OOPS! / Apologies to the first 7 people who left their comments, I did not realise that this writing was duplicated as I had posted it in a hurry. I have come back on line and saw the discrepancy so I have removed the duplication! Just in case you had been drinking and thought you had seen double. I have also added the following :- / There is a reason why I wrote this poem, I just wanted to let women know ….... there are many men out here who do respect “No” Live Life For Today And Save A Smile For Somebody Tomorrow “To have the rights to say No!” © Copyrigh 2009 / All Rights Reserved! – MCN: CCD0F-2E866-901C1 /

/ There was once a coquí / who was very, very happy ...
First of all I want to give my very, very special friend Shoaib my thanks for letting me have this beautiful photo of our Coquí. He has always been there to help me out ever since I entered Red Bubble. Also, I want to give my thanks to my other wonderful friend pepper08 who was inspired to do another masterpiece (for that is what she does, masterpieces) when she read this poem. It is called “The Poet of The Rain Forrest”. You could see her wonderful work “herepepper08 Now this is a tanslation of the Spanish version of El Quien Dice “Ay Bendito” Ese Sí es de Aquí. Coquí, Coquí. My son had to read the book La Cancion Verde and had to make a summury of about 10 to 14 pages or so and then make a poem about it. Even though he read and read nothing would come out, so I helped him with it. This is what we came out with. Now “Ay Bendito” is a typical Puerto Rican exclamation of woe or pity which literally means Oh Blessed. So when a person says, “Ay bendito” something has gone wrong. The saying El quien dice Ay bendito ese sí es de aquí means that the one saying this phrase comes from here, meaning Puerto Rico. And how true it is. Now,the coquí is like a very tiny frog which is harmless and when it is mating time and especially when it rains it makes the unmistakable chant of coqui, coqui. Suppossedly it cannot survive out of Puerto Rico or it will die but it has found it’s way to Hawaii where they are trying to eliminate it due to the nuisance of the chanting and because it is not a native to Hawaii.I mention the jíbaro “who is the hard working and long-suffering archetypical peasant, who is seen as more ” legitimately” Puerto Rican due to rural isolation. Since the rural areas were (and still are) the zones with the least amount of English penetration, the jíbaro is also associated with limited English skills.” By Dr. Alicia Pousada I hope you enjoy. And if there is something you do not understand, please feel free to ask. Iris
