  • This series is called ‘Daily Tao’. Chinese symbols taken from the book ‘Tao Daily Meditations’ by Deng Ming-Dao. The book was given to me by a dear friend, and former lover. I enjoy picking it up and reading the entries, finding something new to take from them each time. From ‘Tao Daily Meditations’ on Stillness: Wind stirs the bamboo, / But once the wind passes, / The bamboo is silent. / Geese land in the chill pond, / but once the geese fly away, / There are no reflections. / In the same way, / Once the red dust passes, / The mind is still. The affairs of the world are often euphemistically referred to as red dust. If we do not involve ourselves with the difficulties of the world, there will naturally not be any suggestion or stimulation present. Then the mind will be still. The still mind is capable of the most supreme states of existence. Obviously, total withdrawal from the tribulations, dangers, sensual tempations, and entanglements of everyday life would be one way of doing this. If you feel ready to do this and you have that option, then you should do so. You will find satisfaction and happiness very quickly. But if you are obligated to remain in the world for some time more, and still want to practice the art of tranquility, you must execute withdrawal on a more microcosmic scale. Then stillness is possible for at least short periods. Even short periods of stillness must be beneficial….......... :o) Peace, love & happiness, / Jenny

From ‘Tao Daily Meditations’ on Mandala What did I do today? / I exercised. I said goodbye / To a departing friend. / I went to market, ate my meals. / Took a walk. Took out the garbage. / Read a little. Meditated. Slept. / This was my mandala. A mandala is most commonly a diagram or painting that one uses during meditation. The painting is usually brightly colored and extremely complicated. By beginning at the outer perimeter of the picture and gradually working inwards (sometimes pausing at certain parts to contemplate), the meditator becomes completely absorbed. By the time that the center is reached, all normal egoistic notions should have been dissolved and the profundities of the mind should have been opened. Other religions have various other ways: mass, chanting, sacrament, reciting holy scripture, contemplating. These too become their mandala—their objects of worship. But it is not enough to go to church or temple once a week, or to read a bit of a holy book every morning. Can Tao be confined to such simple rituals? No. We could fly to the very height of the cosmos, plunge to the greatest depth, swim the length and breadth of eternity, and still not come to the limits of Tao. Therefore, we should look to Tao in every day. We should ask ourselves each day how Tao manifested itself to us. Our daily activities are our mandala. Tao reveals itself to us in our mundane doings. Tao, love, god, universe, goddess, allah…....always around us, surrounding us, filling us, within us…....... and we strive to find it…........... Peace – Jenny

  • The original is a 36” x 48” acrylic painting, As in many of my paintings I use Metallic and interference paints that alter of show up differently depending on the viewers angle of view and the lighting. Since photography can’t interpret this kind of dynamic the camera version of this work wasn’t to my satisfaction… so I started to use the image to experiment with photo-shop elements. I watched as the colors jumped all the way through the roof… the people upstairs were not happy, particularly given the late hour. / So here is a version of this work that I was on when the neighbor’s call to the color cops stopped my playing around.

  • This classy Lady is “The Ambassador” of her country, talking to the audience, to the world about it…representing her nation with pride and dignity. / To emphasize the elegance of the painting, I added Gold everywhere where it seems to be yellow, and a fine, barely noticeable Silver in her dress, above her eye and her beads. / In real it is a very rich and sophisticated looking piece. Original: / Acrylic on Stretched canvas, 16/20in Available
