Cute little family of ducks in Arlington Park, Sarasota, FL This mother duck had just been attacked by a Moscovy Duck that is twice her size. The babies were running everywhere trying to hide. My hubby chased the Muscovy away from her and the little one came looking for her. Hubby said the Moscovy had one of these little babies in his bill when he first encountered the situation. Similar to Through the Blinds, this is a view of the patio overlooking Sarasota bay, seen through the window of the breakfast room of John and Mable Ringling’s winter mansion. The delicately tinted glass used in all the windows was imported from Italy and provides a happy glow to the interior. Lovely as the inside is, I’d give anything to have / my morning coffee at sunrise on this patio. Wouldn’t you? / / / / Here’s a shot of the front of the house. / / / For anyone considering a card, I would recommend choosing the black background.

Sarasota, Florida / Plumeria (common name Frangipani; syn. Himatanthus Willd. ex Roem. & Schult.) is a small genus of 7-8 species native to tropical and subtropical America. The genus consists of mainly deciduous shrubs and trees. P. rubra (Common Frangipani, Red Frangipani), native to Mexico, Central America, and Venezuela, produces flowers ranging from yellow to pink depending on form or cultivar. The genus is also related to the Oleander, Nerium oleander. Both are known to possess poisonous, milky sap, rather similar to that of Euphorbia. In Mexico, the Nahuatl (Aztec language) name for this plant is "cacalloxochitl" which means "crow flower." It was used for many medicinal purposes such as salves and ointments.

In a small sunroom on the side of Ca d’Zan, John Ringling’s Sarasota, Florida, mansion, these windows show a glimpse of the ornate front of the house. Photo taken while waiting for the next group tour to start, sooo tempted to look for some little nook of a hiding place so I could slip away from the tour unnoticed, wait for everyone to leave, and pretend I live there. / / Here’s a shot of the front of the house. / /

Hint: See the light areas in the lower corners… This is a light fixture hanging in a mall… very pale not very detailed to the natural eye… / Being bored, I shot while standing directly under the light and post processed it until it has these beautiful details… / The lower right corner is the edge of the light fixture I left it intentionally..

Sitting on a bench in Arlington Park, Sarasota, FL, watching the Moscovy ducks, all of a sudden these birds were flying over my head. They were diving for food thrown in the lake by visitors to the park. / Hope someone cant ell me the name of this bird… I thought it is a seagull, but it doesn’t look like the gulls on Siesta Beach. /

While sitting with Hubby in Arlington Park, feeding the turtles crackers, several birds flocked in together and landed within five to six feet of us. Now these birds were between us and the water and the turtles. So, Hubby kept trying to throw the food out to the turtle, but the seagulls and black birds would jump up and grab it. This one is on his way back down with a piece of cracker in his beak and crumbs falling. / Laughing Gull
