  • I missed a fantastic sunset, and an incredibly intense lightning storm. By the time I got to my chosen vantage point, I was left with the remnants of both. © Sara Lamond 2007. • I love shooting at night, and generally am out alone when I’m shooting – it’s when I produce my best work (in my mind anyway). / / This is one of my favorite places in the city. You can sit here alone for hours, traffic streaming past, only the occasional pedestrian, while hundreds, or even thousands of people are just a few feet below. It’s both a quiet spot to find refuge, and a place that symbolizes the loneliness and isolation that can be experienced in a city of millions. © Sara Lamond 2007. • ©2005 Sara Montour This is an old image, taken in 2005 right after I got my first semi-real camera (Fuji S7000). I had just come home from living in England and Ireland where I fell in love with photography and knew I wanted to pursue it seriously. A lot of you have probably seen this photo before, but I like to include it in my new sites when I can because not only is it of my hilarious brother, Christian, but since it’s one of the first that I took with that camera it’s an important image to me. • II continues to amaze me how much dimension can be / captured in the layers of tree bark. Using my Macro Lens, / nature has told me many stories in the form of bark, rocks, / plants, flowers and water patterns. This piece illustrates / the power of tree bark and how well it transforms into / abstracts from nature. The first image I perceived was / a woman on the far bottom left emerged in the action of / the sea. This piece contains many images that are / best interpreted by the viewer. I often associate to musical / lyrics when viewing my painterly photographs. Music is / a great inspiration to the creative process and can enhance / the power of expressive art and in this case “the rhythm / of the sea. Please view this in large format. / Drawn to the Rhythm Of The Sea / Sarah McLachlan When we wore a heart of stone, we wandered to the sea / Hoping to find some comfort there, yearning to feel free / And we were mesmerized by the lull of the night / And the smells that filled the air / And we layed us down on sandy ground. It was cold, but we didn’t care [Chorus] / Yes, we were drawn to the rhythm / Drawn into the rhythm of the sea / Yes, we were drawn to the rhythm / Drawn into the rhythm of the sea We fell asleep and began to dream when something broke the night / Memories stirred inside of us – the struggle and the fight / And we could feel the heat of a thousand voices / Telling us which way to go / And we cried out “Is there no escape from the words that plague me so?” And we were drawn to the rhythm / Drawn into the rhythm of the sea / Yes, we were drawn to the rhythm / Drawn into the rhythm of the sea In the still and the silent dawn another day is born / Washed up by the tireless waves, the body bent and torn / In the face of the blinding sun, you wake only to find / That heaven is a stranger place than what I’ve left behind And we are drawn to the rhythm / Drawn into the rhythm of the sea / Yes, we are drawn to the rhythm / Drawn into the rhythm of the sea And we are drawn to the rhythm / Drawn into the rhythm of the sea / Yes, we are drawn to the rhythm / Drawn into the rhythm of the sea When we wore a heart of stone, we wandered to the sea / Hoping to find some comfort there, yearning to feel free / And we were mesmerized by the lull of the night / And the smells that filled the air / And we layed us down on sandy ground. • Please read this. [Taken in natural light] I am an Irish born missionary adn Photographer. I also am founder of Philadelphia Mission a British registered charity. My Passion and inspiration comes from a heart touched deeply by Gods Love. Sara is one of 16 children with rickets in this small village. Ungwa/Fada village is certainly one of the poorest I have seen in Kebbe state. Chronic malnutrition, River blindness, Diarrhoea, Intestinal worm infection and the inability to grow enough food have made a big impact on their health. Rickets is a disease caused by Lack of Vitamin [D],. Many children are malnourished and their body does not absorb Vitamins D. C . B. A. We have however through donations made via RB members purchased a water Pump, and now they can irrigate their fields. But they still need fertilizers, tools and good quality seed to grow better food. A Bore well is urgently needed to stop many of the diseases and sicknesses they experience. ALL MONEY RAISED FROM SALE OF MY ART, DONATED ART AND DONATIONS MADE VIA OUR CHARITY WEBSITE, GOES TO HELP THESE PRECIOUS CHILDREN. WE TAKE NOTHING OUT OF WHAT YOU GIVE TOWARDS CHARITY OVERHEADS. WE ARE NOT SALARIED AND COVER OUR OWN TRAVEL EXPENSES. SO ALL THAT YOU GIVE GOES TO THESE CHILDREN To make a donation, or find out more, Please visit our Charity Mission website: http://www.philadelphia33.org/ Camera: Canon EOS400D. Lens: Canon 50-300 zoom. ISO 400. WB: Auto.

  • “Deep Blue” was inspired by the works of Sara Teasdale, one of my favourite romantic poets..she often mentions “the deep blue night” in her work and after starting this latest in the series of symbolic portraits I knew that Sara once more had influenced the outcome…the setting is the night and though there is the impression of dense tropics, the cool deep blues convey a feeling of winter…the cry “is there no peace on earth” is reflected in the haunted eyes of her face…the frigidity of a “wind blowing through (the) soul” is reflected in the movement of the foliage where she appears to be entrapped, pleading for release, yet longing to stay.. A wind is blowing over my soul, / I hear it cry the whole night through— / Is there no peace for me on earth / Except with you? Alas, the wind has made me wise, / Over my naked soul it blew,— / There is no peace for me on earth / Even with you. • October is a month of mixed emotions…fall is so beautiful…the air crisp and clean…the skies bluer than blue…there is no other sound like that of the crunch of leaves underfoot as you go for a Sunday walk…but there is a feeling of regret that the joys of summer are gone…the warmth of the sun will now be gone for months…but for the children Hallowe’en brings it’s promise of sweet things…for us in Canada, thanksgiving is just around the corner…the painting seeks to incorporate all that is October in one radical hit…the colours, the sadness, the promise, the celebrations... Watercolour on Arches Rough Paper..special decorative effects created with sponges, plastic wrap and watercolour markers… FEATURED IN JPG CAST-OFFS / IMAGE WRITING / DEVINE FEMININE I will dance / The dance of dying days / And sleeping life. I will dance / In cold, dead leaves / A bending, whirling human flame. I will dance / With the ghosts of those / Gone before. I will dance / Between the sleep of life / And the dream of death. I will dance / On Samhain’s dusky eye, / I will dance.” Karen Bergquist, An Autumn Chant FEATURED IN… / JPG CAST OFFS / DIVINE FEMININE / IMAGE WRITING / Deep Blue / Lost
