oil on canvas I had a dream so strong I felt compelled to do a painting about it as soon as I woke. The Latin text in the painting translates as: / “Holy Mother and the saints, pray for us” The outer edge text (a remnant from an earlier painting) is in Sanskrit, and translated says: / “From all diseases freed, / From all greif escaped, / Overcome all emnity, / And liberated may you be” A few weeks after doing the painting, I was casually flicking through a travel brochure and found this photo of Meteora in Greece:
An ancient symbol used in chant, and as a meditative mantra: the sacred sound of the Universe, to which all things vibrate. Also ‘purple Oms’, some of the best blotter acid trips of the early 90’s.

This is a poem I wrote about the fifth chakra, called Visuddha, which means “pure” in Sanskrit. Visuddha is the throat chakra. This is what came out of me when thinking about the thraot and all it has to say.

Mandala adapted from the Jain symbol of the vow of Ahimsa, a rule of conduct barring the killing or injuring of any living being, and the fundamental principle that is the cornerstone of the Jainist ethics and doctrine. Ahimsa is also the main yama of yoga practice. Ahimsa also required the non-harming, violence, or injury to the self as well as to other living beings. / The Jainist Ahimsa mandala consists of the word “Ahimsa” in script in the middle of a dharmachakra, or wheel of dharma, with 24 spokes, symbolizing the 24 tirthankars, or enlightened beings. Our version uses India style decorated stylized petals and leaves for the 24 wheel spokes, to emphasize the concept of life. / (Design best viewed large) Related Items from our Other Shops: / (Click any image to view and customize):
