  • DIGITAL HORROR ART FROM THE MIND OF M.R.D. if you like my work and want a print grab one quick as some of my previous items have been removed as to risque. comments from rb on previous work: / I’m writing about one of your works on RedBubble,”MEAT I” At RedBubble we try to allow the maximum creative expression but there are boundaries that we are obliged by law to comply with and our own moral desire for RedBubble to be a positive and supportive environment for all artists. I’m sure that you would not be looking to offend anyone with this work and we understand that how an artist intends a work and how it is perceived can be very different. While we allow a number of somewhat ‘provocative’ works on the site, we need to draw the line at anything with themes of sexualized violence or that is found otherwise objectionable . For this reason we have taken the decision to de-publish this particular work.

  • Deep in the jungle, wild creatures stir. Dead foliage crunches under your tan-booted feet, but it is not the only sound. Clutching your elephant rifle, you pray for a clearing while cursing the trees. You spin left… nothing. And that’s when you hear it, the deep breathe of your prey, the panther. Available in asphalt, army, cranberry, brown, forest and navy, Safari is part of the Sandman Series of Orange Alexander. Sold exclusively on redbubble.

  • The flying spider crouches, it’s fangs drawn taut, waiting. Inching ever closer to the edge of its perch, attus volan watches with deep intent. Without warning, it leaps, flying viciously towards its next meal and host of its children… Available in asphalt, army, cranberry, brown, forest, navy and black, Attus Volan is part of the Sandman Series of Orange Alexander. Sold exclusively on redbubble.

  • Thick in the brush of Montana, there’s a man. Sporting an orange vest, he crouches, perched dangerously in a high oak tree. Far down the mountainside walks the majestic black bear, standing over a stream, preparing to paw some salmon. The hunter takes up his rifle, and stares down the scope. In his circular view, the bear pauses, almost sensing the crosshair. Lowering his weapon, the hunter is overwhelmed by nature. Available in army and brown, Hunter is part of the Sandman Series of Orange Alexander. Sold exclusively on redbubble.

  • On Zazzle / On DeviantART Won a Today’s Best Award on Zazzle (second page, bottom row) Closeup of a picture I’m workng on – I liked this bit on its own, and I wanted to show a closeup on the details anyway. Very Sandman and Neil Gaiman inspired (specifically, the Endless – Mostly Death, but also Dream, Destiny and Desire), but not actually OF them. Some personal stuff in there – some emotional imagery, some pretty details that mean nothing. / The pain of caring and protecting something beautiful that feeds on you and hurts you. The paleness of being only a shadow compared to another’s light and glory. The power of darkness and being unknown, and the restraint possessed and never seen. And I just had a completely different idea for the background… Anyway, the full picture’s up to fours hours at the moment (and hasn’t been touched for awhile…), this bit… was maybe two hours. • Self, from Goddesses, Myths and Monsters series These next few heavily inspired by Neil Gaiman’s inimitable “Sandman” graphic novel series. I’ve always admired his portrayal of the Archetypes walking around in modern-day, taking cabs and wearing beat-up t-shirts as they go about their ineffable business… “And Nyx (Night) bare hateful Moros (Doom) and black Ker (Violent Death) and Thanatos (Death), and she bare Hypnos (Sleep) and the tribe of Oneiroi (Dreams). And again the goddess murky Nyx, though she lay with none, bare Momos (Blame) and painful Oizys (Misery), and the Hesperides … Also she bare the Moirai (Fates) and the ruthless avenging Keres (Death-Fates) ... Also deadly Nyx bare Nemesis (Envy) to afflict mortal men, and after her, Apate (Deceit) and Philotes (Friendship) and hateful Geras (Old Age) and hard-hearted Eris (Strife).” (Hesiod, Theogony 211, translated by Hugh G. Evelyn-White).

  • The first Sandman painting I ever did, and it was in front of an audience at the San Diego Comicon, watercolor on arches 140 lb cold press paper stapled to a board.

  • He comes within the dead of night, / Sleep little children, sleep, / And brings the gift of never sight, / Sleep little children, sleep. Those who lie in their cots awake, / Sleep little children, sleep, / Their very eyeballs he will take, / Sleep little children, sleep. Seeking those with open eyes, / Sleep little children, sleep, / He gobbles up his valued prize, / Sleep little children, sleep.

  • I was looking at our little guy last night by the fire and couldn’t help but start humming the classic song. Fall has fallen on our cottage helping us to get ready to hibernate for the winter. Well, returning to Florida anyway. / Ridgeway, Canada Leica -Lux1 Mister Sandman – The Chordettes
