The world is about to end because of global warming. Temperatures are soaring, ice is melting, glaciers are retreating, seas are rising, and we’re all going to fry. We’re all up to here with worry about it. The Royal Society says there’s no longer any room for scientific doubt about it. Britain’s Chief Scientist says it’s a bigger threat than global terrorism. / Every global warming sceptic is denounced as clinically insane. Every developed nation wags its finger at every other (well, ok then, at America) and tells it to Emit Less. Every politician and B-list celebrity now anxiously measures his or her carbon footprint. Every British schoolchild is now drilled to believe that man-made global warming is a Fact along with poverty and the existence of Belgium. It’s a wonder any of us has any incentive to get up in the morning. :) Online Galleries: / Surrealism art prints / 2d3d graphic design software / 3ds models max software

Upper Antelope Canyon The Navajo name for Upper Antelope Canyon is Tse’ bighanilini, which means “the place where water runs through rocks.” Upper Antelope is at about 4,000 feet in elevation and the canyon walls rise 120 feet above the stream bed. Though dry most of the year, Antelope Canyon runs, and sometimes floods, with water after rains. It is the water, slowly wearing away the sandstone grain by grain, that has formed the beautiful and graceful curves in the rock. Wind has also played a role in sculpting this fantastic canyon. / Was so lucky at one point to have the canyon to myself, peaceful, serene and incredibly beautiful. / WARNING / ©2008 Globalphotos All rights reserved. / All photographs, text and images by Globalphotos are the exclusive property of Globalphotos – protected under Australian and international copyright laws. / These images may not be reproduced, copied or manipulated without written permission. / No use for Public Domain. / Use of any image for another photographic concept or illustration is a violation of copyright.

Background Information: / Tofino is a village of about 1,650 residents on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada, located at the western terminus of Highway 4. It is located at the tip of the Esowista Peninsula, and is thus a part of Clayoquot Sound. Islands in the vicinity include Meares, Vargas and Flores. Lone Cone on Meares Island is an extinct volcano. Tofino and the nearby town of Ucluelet are the closest towns to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The settlement of Tofino first acquired the name in 1909 with the opening of the Tofino Post Office, named in association with Tofino Inlet nearby. Tofino Inlet was named in 1792 by the Spanish commanders Galiano and Valdés, in honor of Admiral Vicente Tofiño, under whom Galiano had learned cartography. A popular tourist destination in the summer, Tofino’s population swells to many times its winter size. It attracts surfers, nature lovers, campers, whale watchers, fishermen, or anyone just looking to be close to nature. In the winter it is not as bustling, however, many people visit Tofino and the west coast to watch storms on the water. Close to Tofino is Long Beach, a scenic and popular year-round destination, at the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Nearby Maquinna Marine Provincial Park, with its natural hot springs, is located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Tofino and is also a popular day-trip destination for tourists although it is only reachable by boat or float plane. • Antelope Canyon
    by Christophe Testi

    US$6.98–US$159.60

Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic ‘flowing’ shapes in the rock. Lower Antelope Canyon, called Hasdeztwazi, or “spiral rock arches” by the Navajo, is located a few kilometers away from the upper Antelope Canyon and is a more difficult hike. • Shadows on The Sahara
    by Mark Tisdale

    US$4.23–US$96.52

I had this image in my head well before I ever found myself on the back of a camel. The fact is, I hadn’t thought I would be on the camel when I took it! If it was listed in the itinerary that we would watch the sun set on the sands of the mighty Sahara, I missed it. But there I was, there was my shadow, and I managed to let go of the saddle long enough to get what I think is a really classic view. I don’t know that I will ever find myself in Egypt again, and even if I do, the magic will never be the same.

  • D'ici à Paracas
    by nodakami

    US$4.99–US$114.00

Abstract digital mixed media / photographs and flame fractals /   / 9.8 megapixels (3840×2560), 2009.02.14th /   / This is part of a current graphic project where I hope to design an album cover for a friend’s ethnodrones soundscape music. More details soon. / Although no material I used is directly linked to Peru, and I didn’t know about Paracas culture before researching it from my friend’s track title (‘Paracas’), it seems his music, that I listened to while creating the picture, magically guided me towards this abstraction strangely reminiscent of Pre-Columbian geoglyphs. Hence the name I chose aftwerwards (translating as ‘From here to Paracas’). /   / © 2009 by Nodakami / www.nodakami.com

Here on RB there are stunning coastal images with perfect long exposures and processing,,, well,, this isn’t really one of them but what it is, is my first ever long exposure. This morning my friend and I decided to shoot a sunrise on the Western Port Bay (Balnarring) so I packed my case & tripod and off we went at 5am. As soon as we got there, my cheap tripod broke in half so there goes my long exposures! But I ended up getting creative with positions..hmmmm.. Then, we waited.. and waited.. and no Sunrise! Just lots and lots of gray clouds and drizzle :o( But that aside I still tried to make the best of it and got this image with a 30second (200 ISO) exposure so please be kind! I promise I’ll do better next time…. After I invest in a good tripod!
