Yes, they are my feet and I’m relaxing on the beach watching the kids play in the water. I gave this image some texture and it reminds me of a very lazy, Aussie summer’s day at the beach.
I know that in an artistic sense this is quite simple, however to me it has great meaning. The image is of my two boys who are also the best of friends. They have an unbreakable bond and here, they are doing something they love; just being together.
Flowing Textures A study on how the soul likes to fly, transported by the flowing shapes in our surroundings. We all carry within us a deep need to feel involved in all possible visual trips, trying to soothe the unstoppable impulse to run away… José Ramos My portfolio—> JoseRamos.net
I finally got to paint this from my digital manipulation, Don’t Give Up Searching . I’m so pleased with the result. I used a few different textures and oil paint and made the eye brown rather then blue so that the image was unified in pallet to suit a college project so that I could paint this particular piece without abandoning duty. / UPDATE- / In 2008 this painting was STOLEN. / It was being displayed in Bentley Pines Restaurant with a group of other art from fellow students. toward the end of the year the restaurant went though refurbishments and stored the works in a disabled toilets :/ we were asked to collect the work but this painting had already gone before it could be collected. Ive contacted all the people in charge and been forwarded around like a telstra customer on hold and still haven’t gotten it back. :(
Took this a couple of weeks ago of my little girl at the beach and realised it’s potential this morning when I started to play with the colour, light and layers so of course I though that I would share!
This shot was taken in a gorgeous place called Spoon Bay. A wonderful feeling of remoteness to it even though it’s only a 10 min hike down a track. The rocks are gorgeous (that is if you are like me and love rocks and textures). The rock is a green sandstone (haven’t seen this colour anywhere else) and the sand is a deep golden colour. I took this photo because Ioved the contrasts in colours, textures and the movement of the sea in the middle of it all. For anybody that likes Photoshop, if you are interested in how I processed this image, I did a step-by-step tutorial in my blog. You can find my blog here Enjoy / Brent

Lines in the sand received a highly commended award in the the black and white category of the 2007 ANZANG Nature and Landscape Photographer of the year competition (ANZANG: Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica, New Guinea bio-region). It also won a first place in a local competition run by Harvey Norman. It was taken in the immense dune field between Lake Wau Wauka and Iron Prince Reef in the Howe Wilderness Zone, Croajingolong National Park. It is just near Cape Howe on the Victorian, New South Wales border where the coast line takes a dramatic turn north resulting in the sand building up on this rock flanked headland. On this particular day I had arisen an hour before dawn and witnessed the white dunes absorb all the pre-dawn colours before a spectacular ocean sunrise had me chewing through my film in awe. I wandered around the huge dune field taking advantage of the morning light that emphasized the ripples in the sand. After some inclement weather this part of the dune field had dried out unevenly resulting in sand bands of differing moisture content being blown in alternate directions. The result was this remarkable, and logic defying pattern. This particular shot was literally the next frame in the camera after my 2006 ANZANG black and white runner up shot, Dunes near Wau Wauka Featured on the red bubble homepage 7/5/08. Ahh summer has arrived early for some of us this year. After a day at the beach last weekend, I was able to get that good old feeling back that only summer can bring! These kids were playing around at the beach, and I couldn’t help but be reminded of a time in life when going to the beach, making a sand castle, digging a hole to fill when tide comes in, finding something living a rock and burying someone in sand were the best things you could ever do. Life’s simple pleasures. I live for a sunny day. Taken at Port Melbourne Beach Original shot layered once and a free use texture from www.deviantart.com – tagger stock layered on top, with a slight adjustment of RGB.
