Ocean at night (taken with a slow shutter speed)
This shot was taken off of US Highway 98 in Destin, FL on Okaloosa Island which is a barrier island that separates the Gulf of Mexico from Choctawhatchee Bay. The gulf is typically pretty calm in this area. The sea oats in the foreground are abundant in the area. / / Click on the buy/preview button to see the many RedBubble print options for this photo. / /
Came across this at the near deserted beach along a stretch of the Oregon Dunes National Park. Perfect position for my polarizer to take full advantage of the perpendicular sun.

I remember the time: / I could feel the wind in my hair, / I could face fear without care / I could jump the fences that limited me / / I remember the time: / I new love and trusted with all my heart. / I new the truth and believed with all my spirit / I new that no fences could constrain me I see myself today: / I feel that wind and time is blowing by / I feel the need to be cautious and secure. / I sense the fences confining any hope of adventure I believe I will hold faith and love again / I believe I will grasp courage and trust again / I believe I will soon run with the wild horses again / Oh, how I wish to run with wild bankers North Carolina’s Outer Banks is home to about four hundred wild horses that roam free in some parts of this popular resort area. The Banker horse is a tough breed that has survived hurricanes, scorching heat, bloodthirsty insects, and winter storms while living on coarse sea grasses and digging in the sand for fresh According to the report, “Genetic Analysis of the Feral Horse Populations of the Outer Banks” written by Gus Cothran, Ph. D. from the University of Kentucky, “Corolla herd has only 29 alleles, among the lowest number of any horse population.” That means there is less genetic diversity among the Corolla group than any other group of horses. Rather than being feral horses with a mixture of domestic breeds, “they are in effect “a breed unto themselves.”water. They are descendents of horses brought to the islands centuries ago by Spanish explorers. The physical characteristics of the Banker are very similar to many Spanish breeds. These horses are compact in size, usually 14 -15.2 hands high and weigh about 800-1000 pounds. They have broad foreheads with a straight or slightly convex profile, short backs, strong croups with high to medium-low tail sets, and long silky manes and tails

Scalea is a picturesque, little town which takes its name from its terraced lay-out an the hillside, at the bottom of the Capo Scalea promontory. The old town is placed on the heights and preserves the remains of an ancient wall, while towards the beach, the Scalea Marina centre has recently been developed, with modern, comfortable hotels splendid villas and numerous, fully-equipped bathing areas on the beach. These enchanting beaches look out onto a sea of incomparable beauty. This town was no doubt inhabited even in prehistorical times, as proved by the material of the Paleolithic period that was excavated in a cavern near Torre Talao, which dominates over the rocky promontory called Scalea Island. It is claimed that the town of Lao, of pre- Indo-European origin and colonized by the Sybarites in the 6th-5th century B.C., once stood an the plain South of Scalea, near the mouth of the river Lao. Nowadays Scalea is synonymous of seaside and holidays. Indeed, it is one of the most visited resorts in Italy. But the name of Scalea is also synonymous of culture, history and folklore. During the Swabian, Angevin, Aragonese and Spanish era, Scalea became an important fief and a centre of study, which was gradually enriched with monuments and works of art, most of which can still be admired today. The 13th century Palazzo of the Spinelli Princes (XIII century), which belongs to the Town Council, is the most important building of the lower part of the old Town Centre. In the old hamlet the main “street” is an attractive stairway that begins in piazza De Palma: it is a natural amphitheatre. Well north a visit are the Norman Castle, the Palazzo Palamolla, of Renaissance inspiration and the Torre Cimalonga, Aragonese style building, now the seat of the “Antiquarium”. Nikon Coolpix 990
Scanned slide. It’s been a while since these slides have seen the light of day… so I’ve been having fun revisiting them! Also, reliving the trips I took to take them. Anyone who has been in the Australian outback would have to agree it’s an incredible experience and one that stays with you forever. I have been blessed to have been included on two trips with some dear photographer friends of mine. Both were quite some time ago now and I sometimes find that my memory of where things were exactly taken has become hazy… so you’ll have to forgive me when I say… “somewhere in the Strezlecki Desert” ! I did keep a log of all photographs taken at the time (when, where, etc…) but after several moves it seems to have disappeared… bugger! If you haven’t been outback yet… you should definitely put it on the “to do” list… I know it’s back on mine… : )) Featured in the Outback Australia group
