Away beyond the blue / One star belongs to you / And every breathe I take / I’m closer to that place / Yeah, baby / I’m gonna meet you there / On the outskirts of the sky / Yeah, baby / And we will fly / Away beyond the blue / One star belongs to you / This life is but a dream / Go gently down the stream… lyrics by Beth Nielsen Chapman

© Claire McAdams / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED For less expensive prints of this shot click here i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this picture. I am STUNNED that this came out of MY camera and I am SOOO happy with it. I really hope it does well. This is a style that I have tried a couple times and failed miserably but now that I found these waterfalls I finally have a good enough subject to start out with and work with. My freind had this dress she got for like 15 dollars at a sale and was willing to go out into nature with and I just loved how it flowed. I had my camera on a tripod and used a relatively longer shutter speed which gave the whole picture a softness to it. This was taken at about 9:30 am on a cloudy morning, the sun was behind me but when she looked up the diffused sunlight caught her face very well and made her glow.
Gizmo is a barking owl who lives at the Lone Pine Sanctuary in Brisbane. Originally, the Sanctuary staff thought that Giz was a ‘he’, but apparently he’s a ‘she’.

Sanctuary – Middle English, from Old French sainctuarie, from Late Latin s?nctu?rium, from Latin s?nctus, sacred, sanctify. Sacred place, especially the most sacred part of a sacred place. In ancient times and in the Middle Ages, a sanctuary served as asylum, a place of refuge for persons fleeing from violence or from the penalties of the law. To injure a person in sanctuary or to remove him from it forcibly was considered sacrilege. In Egypt the temples of Osiris and Amon offered the right of sanctuary. Under the Greeks all temples enjoyed this privilege, and certain ones, like the Temple of Apollo at Delphi, were known throughout the Mediterranean world as a haven for fugitives. In Rome fugitive slaves often sought sanctuary. Christian churches were given the right of sanctuary by Constantine I. Abuses of sanctuary, tending to encourage crime, led to its curtailment and abolition. Modern penal codes no longer recognize the right of sanctuary.

taken at Warrawong Sanctuary in the Adelaide Hills, this inquisitive bird came up to eyeball me as I took his pic.
He may have a tether around his ankles, and live in harmony with the humans that rescued and care for him, but he is still one majestic free spirit and lord of all he surveys. At the Currumbin Wildlife sanctuary, he is honoured for who he is. / To see this bird in free flight, or at rest, one has no doubt about the amazing energy and presence of the Wedgetail Eagle or that this is still every bit the free and magnificent creature that symbolizes Great Spirit to many people, myself included.
