An abstraction to capture the light and unity with nature, acrylic on canvas / 60×80 cm
This shot was taken during the 2005 Tour. The only face in focus in the peleton (main group of riders) is that of Luis Leon Sanchez, who coincidentally went on to win the Tour that year. I took a copy of this to his hotel for him, and was rapt to receive a phone call from Neil Stephens translating for Luis to thank me and say how much he liked the shot!!

A very long story behind this and why I am awake and sober at 5am on a Sunday. Buy me a Pint and I may indulge detaili.
I had planned on finishing my super top secret squirell tee that actually had meaning and valid social comment but my mind walked off on me and left me to have a cup of tea with Sanchez and Gavin. Sadly, they were out of tequila too (Gavin gets into the bottle all the time and isn’t very good at sharing) Can some one give me a hand with deciding WTF to do with Sanchez’s body? He looks like an anorexic teddy bear. Early days. Just you wait till I get my hands on a cracked copy of Illustrator and finally master the pen tool. I’ll be like He-Man on Greyskull waving it about like a bodybuilder in a furry nappy.

Sanchez has been wandering about all forlorn and weighed down by day-to-day shiz. No more! He’s going to go out and get a purple velour jumpsuit and a boom box so he can bust a move! Sanchez has been keeping me company lately (Along with Fitzroy, my drinky dino) najeroux
I elect the words of Patti Smith for I have none. You can hear her say them here “I haven’t fucked much with the past, but I’ve fucked plenty with the future. / Over the skin of silk are scars from the splinters of stations and walls I’ve caressed. / A stage is like each bolt of wood, like a log of Helen, is my pleasure. / I would measure the success of a night by the way by the way by the amount of piss and seed I could exude over the columns that nestled the P.A. / Some nights I’d surprise everybody by skipping off with a skirt of green net sewed over with flat metallic circles which dazzled and flashed. / The lights were violet and white. I had an ornamental veil, but I couldn’t bear to use it. / When my hair was cropped, I craved covering, but now my hair itself is a veil, and the scalp inside is a scalp of a crazy and sleepy / Comanche lies beneath this netting of the skin. / I wake up. I am lying peacefully I am lying peacefully and my knees are open to the sun. / I desire him, and he is absolutely ready to seize me. In heart I am a Moslem; in heart I am an American; / In heart I am Moslem, in heart I’m an American artist, and I have no guilt. / I seek pleasure. I seek the nerves under your skin. / The narrow archway; the layers; the scroll of ancient lettuce. / We worship the flaw, the belly, the belly, the mole on the belly of an exquisite whore. / He spared the child and spoiled the rod. I have not sold myself to God.”
I’m working on a new character called Leah. Thus far, the only thing I like about her is her boots, but that’s irrelevant. Leah would like to thank the Patti Smith Group for giving her something to think about. Brass bands in bathing suits during dictionary season are silly if wearing bowler hats without feathers. Sanchez told me that last night.
