Sammi is a rescue dog, her previous owner had been misled into believing that a Dallie was an ideal dog for a small space, and one that needed no exercise. Her owner had post-polio syndrome and could herself barely walk, let alone exercise her dog. However, let me hasten to add that the dog was IN NO WAY neglected or unloved – she was in fact worshipped, had her own (double) bed in her own private bedroom, was adorned with bling and surrounded by toys, had her toenails painted a serious Dior red, and was generally a very happy and indulged little girl, with extraordinarily good manners and impeccable behaviour. She just had nowhere to run. Her owner reluctantly gave her to us, and we brought her home to 3 acres and an equal amount of love! / This was 8 years ago now, and Sammi is the light of our lives, the centre of our animal life now that there are no cats or horses anymore. She features in many of my photos, and is my avatar as well.

I couldn’t resist taking more shadow shots of my dog in the bright early sunshine, reflected against the door – and this time, I thought I’d make more of a shadow play, and wiggle my fingers about too! Total self-indulgence, but we both enjoyed it :)

The other night, cold and misty, I foolishly allowed the dog to settle on the bed for a brief moment – and settle she did! Her head perfectly posed upon the pillow, she snuggled beneath an old dressing gown, and looked set for the night … but I’m not that stupid! Bad luck dog, off to your own bed (: But I couldn’t resist the shot.

An inverted image of a reflection in my dam this morning – first sign of water in our dam after 5 long months of The Big Dry. I think this looks more interesting this way…other than turned around this is straight out of the camera.
