Title: Bored / Camera: D80 / Capture Date: 08/07/2007 / Dimensions: 3872×3135 / Exposure: 1/4 sec at f/45.6 / Focal Length: 195mm / ISO: 500 / Filter: None / Flash: None / Tripod: None / Uploaded Date: 08/07/2007 / Comments: White tiger at the aquarium in Houston. This is why I do not like seeing animals in zoos or cages. Wouldn’t you be bored if you were a jungle animal and you were put in a cage like this? They are beautiful, but I would prefer they were free. © 2007 Charles Dobbs Photography. All photographs and artworks in this portfolio are copyrighted and owned by the artist, Charles Dobbs. This shot recieved a runner up award in the Black and White division of the ANZANG Nature and Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2006. The day before the shot was taken we had hiked 25 sandy km along the Howe Wilderness Zone coastline near the NSW / Victorian border. After a lengthy struggle through the dunes and undergrowth to get to Lake Wau Wauka we filled up with water and retraced our steps to camp on the edge of the dune field. The next morning I got up an hour before sunrise and witnessed the white dunes absorb all the predawn colours before a spectacular ocean sunrise had me chewing through my film in awe. I wandered around the huge dune fields taking advantage of the morning light that emphasised the ripples in the sand. The truly special element was the effect some rain had had on the dunes from a few days earlier. The sand in some areas had not dried out completely and as the wind had blown the lighter dry sand away amazing patterns had been left in the remaining wet sand. For more pictures of this area check out my Croajingolong gallery. For more shots like this check out my Textures gallery. 10% of all profits go to the Wilderness Society

The press loved the Mini on it’s launch in 1959, but sales were unimpressive, but when well known celebrities such as Paul McCartney and Twiggy became owners that the sales went through the roof. I’m pretty sure the Italian Job also had plenty to do with sales post 1969. The scene where the robbers’ Minis are chased through a sewer tunnel were filmed in the Sowe Valley Sewer Duplication system in the English city of Coventry.

[Taken in Natural Light]. Taken on the banks of the river Nile, remote Nigeria. I got into conversation with this Muslim girl and I felt s deep compassion for her, as she said She sells peanuts to get money to help her Grandfather who cares for her and her brother and two sisters. Her mother is dead and when she died the father just left and never returned. She told me that she only sold three packets that day and she was selling from around 10 am to 7pm. She did not make enough even to buy basic foods. She spoke good English so I knew she had had some education. I and my fellow mission workers bought what she had left. Then I asked her If I could pray for her. She said yes. I asked God to open her heard adn reveal himself to her. We led to to Christ. She wept and the lord really did touch her. We now visit her village often. All proceeds from sale of my art, or donations made via our charity website goes to help extreme poor and sick in remote and rural villages of Africa. We do not take anything out of it. I invite all to Please visit Philadelphia Mission Africa Charity website: / http://www.philadelphia33.org/ Camera: Canon EOS 400D.
