You don’t make friends with salad
Yes I know…London Bridge, yet again..!! I do gravitate to this spot often – but I never tire from photographing it. So many changing moods..As you can see, the lettuce green seaweed is growing verdantly along the rock shelf exposed by the super low late afternoon tide… / London Bridge – Portsea – Mornington Peninsula – Aus… / Just a tad different mood than from my previous upload..!! / thanks for having a look..
On a group photo shoot last night with six other members of the Mt Gambier and Limestone Coast camera Groups. Travelled to Carpenters Rocks and to the Lighthouse looking over Red Rock Bay. With an extremely low tide the green growth was exposed and created a bed of colour across the rocks. Canon 400D, 18 – 55 lens with Hoya CIR Polarising filter. Thanks to Globalphotos for the name change!

Rocky finger draped in salad seaweed poking out over the top of one of the Peninsula’s deep rock pools…King low tide last night, always love tramping around seeking out new rock pools to dive in…Bring on the fullness of Summer as I can’t wait to immerse myself in some of them….thanks for having a look..
Gotta love the veg.
Selection of açi biber (chilli peppers) arranged by colour. The idea came to me after calling one of my flower photographs a ‘colour wheel’ ....strange the way inspiration takes you! In Turkey these frey little gems are dried to make ‘pul biber’ which is sprinked on food/soup, nibbled as a dried pepper with bbq type meals, ground to a paste for addition to casseroles or pickled as a side dish. Whatever way you eat them they are seriously addictive and not for the faint hearted. / Chili pepper (chilli pepper, chilli, chili, chile) is the fruit of the plants from the genus Capsicum, members of the nightshade family, Solanaceae. Botany considers the plant a berry bush. Though chilis may be thought of as a vegetable, their culinary use is generally as a spice. It is the fruit that is usually harvested. Chili peppers and their cultivars originate in the Americas; they are now grown around the world because they are widely used as spices or vegetables in cuisine, and as medicine. Frangipani “fruit salad” / Nikon D70, Nikon 60mm 2.8f macro
The title of this abstract painting is a play on words…”Salad Days” in popular parlance refers to our youth, days of carefree life, romantic, joyous, free from responsibility…but the painting in it’s impression of a single lettuce leaf, is also a celebration of the joy of the coming season…salad days…. / I love the challenge of painting food as an abstract work…I used various types of watercolours, including the powdered metallics, to give me the effects I wanted to achieve…the veins of the leaf explode with vibrant reds and oranges, while the edges glitter with copper and gold…the feeling is of crackling heat and light….the vibrance and energy that comes only with youth in our “Salad Days“ / A Single Lettuce Leaf
I’m still milking all those apples I had and today, blueberry special…. :-) Have some!
Well, many of you probably have figured out, Red is a a favorite color of mine and I’ve done this image with all red fruits with the summer in mind. Hope you enjoy it… I should mention too, this is a Sugar Baby Watermelon.
Well you know I have had a guilt complex thinking poor veggies felt as though I had forgotten them and they were not important, so today off to the store I go to buy plenty of veggies for this image…now you have the best of both worlds, fruits and veggies…”-)
