  • Holga view of Spring in Japan

  • One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon—instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today. / – Dale Carnegie Posterlounge Store – Portfolio/Blog – deviantART Shop / “To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.”

  • It`s cherry blossom season in Japan. This beautiful flower is called “Sakura”. The blossoms only last for a week or two, usually from March to April; Sakura cherry-blossoms have come to symbolize the transience of life because their life is so short. The Japanese school year begins in April, the sakura are also seen as a sign of beginning, signaling a new stage in life. This bloom has been compared to a woman’s beauty, blossoming for a short period before withering into old age. When the Sakura start to appear, all of Japan goes crazy for these flowers. Hanami (picnics under the cherry blossom trees) is held in the parks, by rivers or on mountains. Salary men loosen their neckties and knock back sake while the blossoms fall gently to the ground. Television news carry nightly reports of the cherry blossom “front” and show whereabouts in Japan the Sakura has started to bloom. This photo was taken in Shinjuku Gyoen.

  • @ my garden.2008 A Poison Tree I was angry with my friend: / I told my wrath, my wrath did end. / I was angry with my foe: / I told it not, my wrath=id grow. And I watered it in fears, / Night and morning with my tears; / And I sunned it with smiles, / And with soft deceitful wiles. And it grew both day and night, / Till it bore an apple bright. / And my foe beheld it shine. / And he knew that it was mine, And into my garden stole / When the night had veiled the pole; / In the morning glad I see / My foe outstretched beneath the tree. / William Blake

  • Cherry Blossom or ‘Sakura’ as it is known in Japan – Taken at the Werribee River September 08. Hand held macro. This image has not been edited in anyway. It is how it came from the camera. Windy day, fabulous afternoon light and great company. I was lucky enough to live in japan and experience the joy of the Sakura no Ki Festival for three years. It is truly a wonderful experience and this is my tribute to it. I hope you enjoy :)) About the Cherry Blossom in Japan. Sakura, or Cherry Blossom is an omen of good fortune and is also an emblem of love, affection and represents spring. Cherry blossoms are an enduring metaphor for the fleeting nature of life, and as such are frequently depicted in art. / In Japan the cherry blossoms are believed to exemplify the transient nature of life, because of their short blooming times. Cherry blossoms also symbolize clouds due to their nature of blooming en masse, besides being an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life, an aspect of Japanese cultural tradition that is often associated with Buddhistic influence, and which is embodied in the concept of mono no aware. The association of the Sakura with mono no aware dates back to 18th-century scholar Motoori Norinaga. The transience of the blossoms, the extreme beauty and quick death, has often been associated with mortality; for this reason, Sakura are richly symbolic. • Like all of the work I put on Redbubble. This piece took a long time to finish. I always take my time with important illustrations, especially if I want people to purchase them. The mountains alone took well over 4 hours to complete. I changed them many many times. They could’ve been an illustration by themselves cuz there’s so much detail in them. The idea behind this piece is loosely based on the fact that I never want to give up on my passions in life. Don’t let the fear of failure stop you from pursuing your life’s goals. You don’t want to look back and have regrets. They will haunt you forever….those things you told yourself you always wanted to do will become your ghosts. You cannot run away from your passion/s in life. Further more this illustration is a reminder to me. A personal mission statement built into an illustration. It is me in the illustration…something I never want to become. Drawn on A3 Copy Paper, Colored in Photoshop CS3 with Wacom Detail: /
