MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER Sydney is great for sunrises, it quite often receives spectacular sunrises as it greets the sunrises that appear from the east. This shot shows the city skyline as seen from North Sydney CBD on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, in the foreground is Lavender Bay. Technique: HDR , 5 Bracketted images processed with Photomatix Pro with avery slight adjustment (sharpening & contrast) in Capture NX. Equipment: Nikon D300 , Nikon 18-200mm lens No filters or colour adjustment 1) RED SKY AT NIGHT… means that as the sun sets in the west, if it has a red hue or color to it, then the moisture was further west of their location. Thus SAILORS DELIGHT. A beautiful sunset. 2) RED SKY IN MORN…means that as the sunlight from the rising sun passes through moisture, it too will be red. This means that with the rotation of the earth, this will bring this moisture (and possible storm) right on top of them and it is only a few hours away. SO SAILORS TAKE WARN.” / I hope this bit of weather science helps.
The Icelandic Harvester. / / When I came across this old vessel moored to the pier my imagination started running wild with scenarios of what life aboard this wooden vessel would have been like. I could almost feel the sineous texture of the ropes as they hung there coated in the ice cold saltwater of the frigid North Atlantic Ocean. I could nearly hear the calls of the sailors as they shouted commands back and forth across her weather beaten decks as the waves crashed down upon her on any one of her numerous voyages. What sights must have been seen as sailors of old lined the rails to peer down at the mysteries of the sea. How many men were lost at sea and how many made it home with wild stories of his adventure aboard the Icelandic Harvester. / / Shot with a Canon 400D and processed in Lightroom 2. / / NautilusBlue / / nominated this image to be showcased in the group Pay It Forward and this is what she had to say… / / Ice Breaker / by Kevin Kroeker / I think it is an outstanding image with great composition ( great leading lines) with lots of drama and the colours are amazing . It shows us the harshness of the climate. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

i am donating my most popular images in my portfolio to the phoenix appeal who redirect all artist profits from sales to the victorian bushfire relief fund through the australian red cross. red bubble will match dollar for dollar contributions made this way. along with cash donations, contributing my art is the very least i can do in my capacity to help people who have lost everything we know about what it is to be human and to live and love and laugh. how ‘bout you as an artist in your own right? what can you and your art give to help? whatever it is, however you can… please give generously.
/ Sailor Girl is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper, I used ink, pastel, and some acrylic…..inks are mainly black, acrylics are mainly white, you can see the canvas texture showing through the pastel, which gives it a nice textured appeal I am really into sailing boats, hope you like this one :D Here’s another one available in a print at last!
This is just one of those pictures that develops as you go. / It started with a sketch of the guy with the hat, and then I realized that he needed someone to hold his hand, thus the monkey. / Then I scanned, and put it together i Photoshop. As I went on the backdrop slowly evolved in my fantasy, and I fleshed it out as I went along…. By the way, I am testing out a new display system I’m working on. / You see I’m in the proses of setting up another blog where I can focus only on the sales of my art and different stuff with my art on it, and I want to show how the pictures look on the wall. So I have drawn a few rooms to hang my pictures in. / Hope you like it…. POS / /
