I’m not sure why this is one of my favorites. One could say I should crop it, as there is too much water (and sky) and the boat is tiny and not centered. However, I love the color blue and there are no prettier shades of blue than those found in nature. I also like that the sailboat and the gull are two isolated figures (almost incidental) in a sea of blue. I prefer to keep the image as I saw it when I took the photograph over four years ago.

Again, I’m showing off my knack for naming artwork. This is a companion piece to Solo Sail. I hadn’t remembered this for a long time, but it’s finally dawned on me that the boat in both images is the same one, taken in the same location, minutes-maybe seconds-apart. The difference is that I used different cameras to capture the images. For this one I used digital binoculars, which is why the boat appears closer. Again, I didn’t center the boat and haven’t cropped it to center it. I was more interested in the sea and the horizon at the time I took the picture, and I guess I still am.
