A sailboat folded out of a 6×10mm piece of paper rowing along the lifeline in my palm. Wow I didn’t realize my hand had all these lines :P. I didn’t turn this into a black and white this time because I managed to get a cool light on my hand to make it more waterlike. The flow of life is parrallel to a journey off the land. It begins smooth, then the waves of adulthood brings high tides which we must overcome, However at the end of the ride, everything is smooth again. Ironically the lifeline in my palm depicts this flow; it begins smooth, then there is a big split and begin to ruffle, but towards the end it comes back together again. This shot was taken from the Destin Harbor – Destin, FL. The sunset cruises were coming in for the evening. This is one of the sunset cruises that I caught coming back into the harbor. During post processing in Photoshop I added a larger than life moon via the Lunar Cell filter. It seemed like it added a mysterious beckoning element to the photo. Skûtsjesilen (pronounced skoo-jee-zee-lin) / is a race between 14 traditional sailing ships; it is held in the north of Holland / (in the province of Friesland), at the end of July/ beginning of August. / This race attracts thousands of visitors each year. This is an other oil impasto. / Since an oil impasto would take up to a year to dry, I first used a modeling paste to texturize the canvas. / Then I painted this oil with big rough bristles (dry brushing technique) / and lots of different palette knives.
