  • Been staying with my dad at the retirement village, while we wait to get him into hospital. So what better to do that take shots of the great flowers there. Here is the first of 3. Desaturated a fracture as I like the sage colour it created!

  • Loved the reflections in this shot.

  • The old man waved an arm across the golden field of blooming rabbit brush upon the old ore dump. He shook his head and chuckled, “And _+they+ say that mining ruins the land …!” I felt moved by sympathy for a man unable to comprehend the changes he has witnessed here, and a bit of sadness in knowing that this brilliant brush may be the last gold ever produced by the Exchequer Mine. / Cherry Creek Mountains – Eastern Nevada / (2007.09.15) RedBubble Albums: / Mines and Mills / Peak Experiences Canon 350D EOS / Tamron 55/200mm

  • On the Beartooth Highway in early June, the elk are dropping their fawns. If you are lucky and spot a solo cow elk, and if she walks away from the spot (rather than charging), you might get lucky and find a rock that looks a bit fuzzy in the sage… and voilà, the fuzzy rock will be a camouflaged elk fawn. I was able to very slowly approach this calf, watching its breathing all the while to make sure it wasn’t stressing. They are so programmed to lie still that I was able, millimeter by millimeter, to approach within inches to move blades of grass that were in the way of the shot. Fortunately I had family watching out for the cow elk or any grizzlies that might be in the area!! • The Sage Gateshead is an international home for music and musical discovery, bringing about a widespread and long-term enrichment of the musical life of the North of England.

  • Living right smack dab in the middle of Buddhism central has gotten me all “Om mani padme hung” like. So, to give my kharma a purple nurple, I have decided to pass on all the words of wisdom that I have run across since moving here. Sometimes these little pearls do tend to run on a bit. I think there are over 80,000 sutras, or something like that. So, to not only lighten the cosmic load in your spiritual britches, but to keep you from nodding off in the middle of it, I have done a bit of paraphrasing. Don’t worry, the basic message is the same. Ooooooommmm..

  • Kharma…the great equalizer. When ever anyone does anything bad to us or towards us, I tend to get pretty nasty about it. My wife on the other hand, just says “don’t think of it, gam will take care of it”. Gam is the Thai word for kharma. Ok, it’s nice to believe that someone will get theirs eventually, but I haven’t gotten used to the fact that it may take several incarnations before it happens. I may not be there to see it. Where’s the fun in that? I want swift and devastating retribution A.S.A.P.! Sadly, getting angry at my own kharma hasn’t as yet proven to be a good idea.

  • A collection of images taken around the River Tyne as it flows through Newcastle and Gateshead.
