“Gift of Love” is the English Translation from Hawaiian. I have photographed this family for many years as they grow and expand; three generations of loving images. The father is a working ranch hand on Maui’s large Ka’ono’ulu Ranch. Yes, a real Hawaiian cowboy—known here as a paniolo. Funny story: I submitted this image to iStockphoto knowing its value in stock would be huge. Well, like most of my submissions, it was rejected. This time they called it PORNOGRAPHY!!!! I almost had to laugh…. and cry. Well, at this point I am glad it it not in the public domain as stock. I’ll wait for the perfect client to come along and do this image proud!

One of my personal favorites. This picture taken in a rodeo (during the lasso tournament) in the south of Brazil. The cowboys are called “gauchos”, and this one is dressed typically. This type of large trousers are called “bombachas”. Captured at 300mm in negative film and then scanned.
over stacked with pollen.. The Worker / This is the smallest bee, 13-17 millimetres long. The worker bee gathers food for the hive, cleans the hive and helps rear the young. The worker bee collects nectar and water through its long mouthpiece called a proboscis. Its tongue is used to suck the nectar from the flowers. On its hind legs there are pollen ‘baskets’ to carry the pollen back to the hive. / /
This image was taken on Christmas Day 2007 for family members that were moving away from the area, they thought it would be nice for me to record the view so they had a reminder of their own home.

I have only experienced it once, but I have never forgotten the feeling of freedom I experienced while flying over a field on horseback. I hope to find that same experience again someday soon!

The title of my / new piece is “Over The Great / Divide.” For those who don’t know, / the Continental or the “Great / Divide” in the Americas is the line / that divides the flow of water / between the Pacific Ocean and / Atlantic Ocean. Rain or snow that / drains on the east side of the / Continental Divide flows toward the / Atlantic Ocean while precipitation / on the west side drains and flows / toward the Pacific Ocean. The / continental divide runs from / northwestern Canada along the / crest of the Rocky Mountains to / New Mexico. Then, it follows the / crest of Mexico’s Sierra Madre / Occidental. In South America, the / Continental Divide lies along the / Andes. The “Great Divide” runs from the / north though the center of / Yellowstone National Park and right / atop these massive mountains that / I have behind Sheldon and his / horse. The “Tetons” were named / by the early Spanish explorers that / thought when they first saw them / that they reminded them of / womens’ breasts! Thus the name, / “Grand Tetons!” The Tetons rise / 13,770 feet above sea level from / the valley floor which is already / 6,530 feet above sea / level. The piece is traditional oils on / “museum-grade” Masonite and the / size is 18” x 24”.
