This was a spontaneous shot taken at a local Adelaide cafe on Rundle Street East in Kent Town one day when I was out with Dan. It was included in the series ‘When He’s Away’ and was a part of the ‘Living Queer in Adelaide’ group exhibition for the 2006 Feast Arts Festival there (Exibited at the Town Hall) I really like this one – human body against unyielding cement wall and rigid geometric lines. The theme that I was working on with the shots in this series was an analysis and exploration of sexuality – but more specifically gay male sexuality and the universal themes relating to the divide between public and private, acceptibility and unacceptibility, connection and disconnection, and of course human vulnerability / sensitivity and the structures and systems which confine or limit this. Ever felt the heavy heart of saying goodbye? In love, in life, in death. Family, lovers, friends. An empty track and sad, sad heart. Whiteman Park, Swan Valley, Perth. When I found this little station, I found myself thinking of the work of two photographers: Don, an awesome photographer who loves trains! He does wonderful landscapes and other great work. He’s given me so much help over the past few years – a generous soul with a great eye for photography. Paul Louis Villani also leapt into my head. He has some incredible images of trains and train stations. While I wouldn’t even attempt to immitate his style, his work gives me so much inspiration, and got me thinking about how I would like to present this scene. I’m particularly proud of this one. For the fight series, I used a highschool friend. He let me pick the place, clothes, girl to fight with… I loved the way they turned out. Exactly what I envsioned.

Ive never tried something like this before. Never an artwork emotionally so intense. Would love to thank sandra baraci for the wonderful collab. She has been painting the stunning image of `tracie76 portrait for a while now, which she abandoned in the middle. I really wanted to complete it in my form, and I did. / She says she found the motivation back again to finish the canvas, which is an honour . Thankyou both of you for the wonderful experience.
