This is from a larger work called ‘Forbidden Fruit’ comprising 25 groups of 5 images. This is the third image of group 24. The creative process begins with felt tip pen drawings on graph paper. These are then scanned into photoshop and digitally manipulated to create the effect of photographed installations. Whilst the content is clearly non-figurative and geometrically derived there is a genuine message to the work. I am either exposing to conscious inspection the archtypical patterns underlying ‘the meaning of life, the universe and everything’ or I’m “completely off my head”. In the final analysis it’s just a work of art.
Photons are both particles and waves. With light came time and the necessity for multi-dimensional space. Photons bridge the divide between an infinitude of nothingness and an infinitessimally small something. Bursting forth from the singlarity of a point source the photon’s discreteness splays out in all directions, first one dimensionally, then two-dimensionally, then three, reaching out to all four quarters of space in its race to be everywhere in one timeless moment only known to itself.

I painted this work for very personal reasons, and as a consequence it is full / of deep meaning for me. Despite this, it conveys symbology and content / relating to alchemy and the most ancient of mysteries that is meaningful for / many people. / Of course, it can also be enjoyed as a fantasy piece, as can all of my work, if / the viewer wishes. / I also needed to work with those golden colors for a while, as a kind of / therapy for myself.
A priestess shape-shifts into an owl during ecstatic sacred dance. The very real / and age-old and world-wide practice of shape-shifting endures to this day, as / some of you know very well!
The Oak tree has been used as a sacred symbol throughout many different cultures and religions. Oak trees were sacred to the Celts. They represented the centre of the world. The Celtic name for oak is daur, and is the origin of the word door. The root of the oak tree was literally the doorway to the Otherworld, the realm of Faery. The word Druid, is combined from the words for oak and wise – a Druid was one who was “Oak Wise,” meaning learned in Tree magic and guardian or the doorway. The Oak is also significant in many other cultures and is commonly used as a symbol of strength and endurance. The Oak is the National Symbol of many countries including England, Wales, France, Germany and the United States. In Classical mythology the oak was a symbol of Zeus and his sacred tree. In the Bible, Joshua erects a stone under an oak tree as the first covenant of the Lord (Josh. 24.25-7). The Oak tree is traditionally sacred to Serbs and is widely used on national and regional symbols both old and new. I like to think that the Oak, and trees in general, are something that ties us all together, no matter what religion we believe, and it is only through our own efforts and concern that trees will remain for future generations to enjoy. Trees are not only significant to people they are imperative for bird life. I am tired of seeing beautiful trees destroyed all in the name of progress and profit. What will be left for us to profit from when all the trees and birds are gone? There is a reason that trees are sacred, perhaps we need to go back and remember the basics: Trees = Oxygen = Life.
Oil on canvas 24” X 24”. Completed April 2008. www.RainbowPathArtStudio.com “All living beings have the Buddha nature and can become Buddhas” / – Buddha Buddha Within illustrates the story of personal awakening. My understanding of the personal awakening process is that when undergoing the final awakening stage, the kundalini (rainbow serpent) becomes an intense fire (red/orange beside the tree trunk) shooting through the spine engulfing the body. The energy (green vortexes) required is enormous. As the kundalini reaches the crown chakra, it fully opens and all earthly limitations drop away. This being is no longer tied to a religion or faith but now embraces them all as represented by the sacred symbols in the tree. The consciousness now resides in the higher self and is one with the universe and all that is. When the transformation is complete sonic waves (the four vertical crystalline waves) travel out into the universe to let all of creation know of the grace that has taken place. All life is naturally drawn to the radiant and divine being that has become pure Buddha consciousness (centre). At each of the chakra points on the Buddha is a Swarovsky crystal in the relevant chakra colour. Crystal magnifies the properties of the chakra energy. / Buddha Within is divided into four quadrants (earth, fire, water, air) and the five elements including precious metals (bottom corners). The red veins dividing the quadrants represent the lower dimension (inner earth). The higher dimension is represented by the white equilateral triangle. If you look closely, you can see the texture of the underlying branches in the tree. These were meticulous painted before adding the covering of leaves. The tree must be complete in the physical, in order to emit the complete energy of the life form. Imbibed in the painting is sand from a sand mandala created by Gyuto Monks. They had spent a week painstakingly building an exquisite sand mandala. Upon its completion the mandala was ceremonially deconstructed and the sand poured into the local river for healing, accompanied by prayer and the blasting of Tibetan ceremonial horns. Some of the sand is held back and distributed to those who attend the ceremony: it holds sacred healing properties. I used some of the sand from this mandala, mixing it in the purple paint used for the crown charka encircling the white triangle and Buddha. Buddha Within is the third in a series and preceded by The Dream and The Awakening.
This brick path overshadowed by oaks leads to a statue of the Blessed Virgin holding the Child Jesus. It is one of many such tranquil spots where people who come for directed spiritual retreats in Grand Coteau, Louisiana, can sit, soak in the small town charm, and meditate on the ways of the Lord.
I really liked this vantage point of the Eiffel Tower. : Paris Calendar: / :

The Black Swan Black on flat water past the jonquil lawns / Riding, the black swan draws / A private chaos warbling in its wake, / Assuming, like a fourth dimension, splendor / That calls the child with white ideas of swans / Nearer to that green lake / Where every paradox means wonder. Though the black swan’s arched neck is like / A question-mark on the lake, / The swan outlaws all possible questioning: / A thing in itself, like love, like submarine / Disaster, or the first sound when we wake; / And the swan-song it sings / Is the huge silence of the swan. Illusion: the black swan knows how to break / Through expectation, beak / Aimed now at its own breast, now at its image, / And move across our lives, if the lake is life, / And by the gentlest turning of its neck / Transform, in time, time’s damage; / To less than a black plume, time’s grief. Enchanter: the black swan has learned to enter / Sorrow’s lost secret center / Where like a maypole separate tragedies / Are wound about a tower of ribbons, and where / The central hollowness is that pure winter / That does not change but is / Always brilliant ice and air. Always the black swan moves on the lake; always / The blond child stands to gaze / As the tall emblem pivots and rides out / To the opposite side, always. The child upon / The bank, hands full of difficult marvels, stays / Forever to cry aloud / In anguish: I love the black swan.
Infra red image of an ancient Oak tree hidden in the valley of the White Leaved Oak, Malvern Hills, England. The tree is thought to be about 1,500 years old and grew from an acorn of a true albino oak which is said to have grown in the area many hundreds of years ago. The Oak is located on the site of ancient earth works and is comonly thought of as being once an ancient place of worship for the Celts and Druids. It is still visited today by local Pagans and Witches and often decorated with offerings of ribbons and crystals.

The idea of sacred space has been one of the foundations of Native American philosophy throughout time. We see all life-forms as having their own life cycles, from the Stone (rock) people, to a Cloud person, or to a Standing (tree) person ~ they all have a space that deserves respect. Every creature being has its own territory and respects the territory of other animals. Two-leggeds (humans) also have a personal space that, if respected, becomes Sacred Space. This Mandala was created to represent ‘Sacred Space’ on the Blue Road to Spirit… teepees (home/shelter) in the cardinal directions: White/North; Yellow/East; Red/South; and Black/West (also symbolic of the 4 races). Day skies & Night skies, cloud people, thunder/lightening beings, standing people, mountains, sun and moon. Arrows of respectful friendship and feathers for the gift of respect. Sketch was photographed and painted, edited and filtered in Redfield Plug-in Fractilius, in photoshop7. Great Mystery, / Teach me to honor / the Laws of Sacred Space, / The customs and traditions / of every creed and race. Great Mystery, / teach me to develop / the talents that I own / And to behave with reverence / in another’s home. Great Mystery, / Teach the child in me / to accept with grace / the part of Sacred Mystery / found in every space. Jamie Sams SACRED SPIRIT
