’. . . the long black night begins, yet still, by the lake a young girl waits, unseeing she believes herself unseen, she smiles, faintly at the distant tolling bell, and the still falling rain.’ Alas, she is soon to become a sacrifice in an satanic ritual! Black Sabbath’s self titled song inspired by Dennis Wheatley, Mario Bava and Hammer Horror. In musical lore and legend the song gave birth to ‘heavy metal’. (They never called their music that, however.) The image was made 2007 as a demo on the use of photoshop brushes and layering them. The girl in this image actually comes from another horror film. It seemed fitting to use it hear as it reminded of the ‘chase part’ of the song near the end.

Black Sabbath – the line up with Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Dio is the character bottom front, Geezer Butler Bass (LH), Toni Iommi guitar (RH), Geoff Nicholls keyboards, Bill Ward (original Drummer LH) and Vinnie Appice (2nd Drummer RH). / Plus, my own versions of the three studio albums, Mob rules (bottom RH), Heaven and Hell (bottom LH) and Dehumanizer (Top LH). / A lengthy, but fun ‘tribute’ project.

The actual picture used in Ave Maria and Black Sabbath II, taken and processed to this point. I quite like it and thought it would be nice as an upload on its own.

A portrait of Jesus Christ with bubble-like clouds and bubbly scallops at the end of one of the background graphics. I chose to depict Jesus in this graphic manner without fleshtones in order to overthrow the stereotypical Jesus that is widely familiar to the public therefore taking a step toward making HIS image more inclusive to people of all cultural backgrounds. I do admit that HIS facial structure and wavy hair excludes the characteristics of many cultures.

This is the continuation of my Judaica series. According to Jewish tradition, the Sabbath starts on Friday evening. The woman of the house ushers it in by lighting two Sabbath candles and saying a blessing over them. This is a multi-award winning painting.

A number of bands have used the concept of Valhalla as inspiration or subject material, including Black Sabbath, 30 Seconds to Mars, Frank Black, Blind Guardian, Ensiferum, Manowar, Amon Amarth,Bathory Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Motörhead, K-os, 3 Inches of Blood, and Elton John has a song called Come to Valhalla on his first album Empty Sky. On their CD Freedom What Freedom, Skrewdriver has a ballad called Epilogue – The Road To Valhalla. However, this song was originally written and performed by the 1980s band White Lion on their album Fight to Survive. Black Sabbath’s 1990 album, Tyr, features the song Vahalla. Also, on Pantera’s self released album called I Am the Night there is a song called Valhalla. Painting using acrylics, inks, pigment and wax

Original Watercolor When G-D gave the Torah to the Jewish people / one of the commandments is to keep Sabbath. / Foundation is an inspiration of that commandment. I painted the Torah in front of the Kotel the Western Wall, it is a surviving remnant of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, which was destroyed by Titus in 68 C.E. The Temple, the center of the spiritual world, was the main conduit for the flow of Godliness into this world. When the Temple stood, there was respect for God, for His Torah – and for each other. There was no doubt about God’s existence.

As I was taking pictures of a traditional Shabbat setting this little fellow head, my daughter’s dutch hound, appeared on my camera viewfinder… ...and I’ve got him just in time :)) Traditional Shabbat greeting, Shabbat Shalom , a peaceful Sabbath! / In Israel the week of work ends Friday afternoon and the family is geting ready to have everything completed before sundown! / ““God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy,” says the book of Genesis, “because on it God ceased from all the work of creation that God had done” (Genesis 2:3). The seventh day is Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath, which stretches from sunset on Friday until one hour after sunset on Saturday. Shabbat is a day on which Jews mirror God’s own rest after creating the world.”
