Botanical Name: Gerbera jamesonii / Common Names: Gerbera Daisy, Transvaal Daisy / Place Of Origin: South Africa It was named by Linnaeus in honour of his friend the German naturalist Traugott Gerber, and first described by J.D. Hooker in 1889. / Many modern cut flower forms are derived from crosses between G. jamesonii and G. viridifolia. I saw this tree while my partner and I were on the search for snow! Living in Sydney it’s not that often that it snows close to home but we were in the midst of a cold snap and heard there was snow about so we thought why not! I saw this out of the corner of my eye as we were driving down a country road and had to get Glenn to go back for the shot (he loves it when I do that). / It was the perfect lone tree with it’s bare branches against the grey sky, the cold drizzly day made it all the more appealing. Taken near the small village of Black Springs. Oh, and we did see some snow not long after this was taken!
