The SS Maheno has been stuck solid on Fraser Island Queensland Australia since the 1920’s, this image was taken on the ocean side of the ship. A slow shutter speed has given the water a ghostly effect giving the impression the she is Still Moving. This image was accepted into Al-Thani Photographic Awards in 2007. www.livingcolours.com.au / www.photosport.com.au

An old fishing boat that had rusted out badly around the rear of the hull – I used a macro lens to get this photograph – the variety of color is not obvious until one gets up very close and takes a careful look – otherwise it just looks like a boat with a rusted rudder. If you look carefully on the lower left quadrant you can see the remains of a barnacle. Nikon D50 handheld, Sigma 105mm macro, 1/160s f/10 / Sold framed print and matted print (privately, not through RB but both cases it was seen here) to friends. 366 views as of Nov 27 09 / / /
The shipwreck at Woody Point, Queensland.
it used to be that magnificent leviathans / glided across the ocean filled with the gifted and gilded. / they were floating palaces, each one more regal and luxurious than the last. / sooner or later it was all doomed to end; / airlines made intercontinental travel much faster and more affordable / and as it did, one by one the luxury liners from the golden era / passed into oblivion – they are all now at the ocean’s murky bottom / or were scrapped long ago. and thus an age ended, / with only one remnant left. / she sits now in the harbor, her insides gutted and her luster faded, / as though waiting for the crowds to come back, / patiently, for she remembers the laughter, the tinkling wine glasses and toasts. / she was magnificent, full of music and spectacle, / and her pride in this is still evident / even if the new generations have forgotten her. / time has not diminished her poise and dignity / she was the fastest cruise ship ever built and / a hundred feet longer than the titanic. / so look upon her now, while you can. / she is the last of her kind. / -—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— more of my work is available on my website, www.abandonedamerica.org

One of many Spring rainstorms that passed across Lorne and Loutitt Bay, on the Great Ocean Road, during the morning, creating some very peculiar lighting conditions.

Taken at wilsom prom national park.
This is a painting of some poorly plumbed hot water pipes at my work place. The piece is painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The combination of large granule pigments with the course grained Arches paper creates some very interesting textures. The original size of the piece is 7” x 5”. Featured in Water Media group in July 2009. / Featured in Painters in Modern Times group in August 2009. /

The SS Gayundah, slowly being reclaimed by the sea. / For this image I took a 15 sec exposure at f14 with an NDX400 and ND4 filters, then keeping the camera on the tripod I took off the filters and captured a wave breaking over her bow with a quick shutterspeed. I combined the two exposures in photoshop. / The wreck lies at Woody Point, Queensland.
