Ashes to Ashes / Dust to Dust / Fire Burns / And Water Rusts
It is true / She will sail again / Once she is gone
This poem is Based on and Inspired the Photograph and photograph’s description. The image is titled Ghost Ship / Photographed by RedBubble artist Peter Rivron In the Photographer Description Peter Rivron writes: / The Ryde Queen paddle steamer was built in 1936, she operated a ferry service between Portsmouth and The Isle of Wight. Withdrawn from service in 1970, she opened as a night club at Binfield on The Isle of Wight, this is where I would spend most of my Saturday nights in my teenage years. Abandoned now she still remains on this spot slowly rotting away. / Since taking this photo her funnel has collapsed. / / / / - / A NOTE FROM THE POET: I thank you all for reading this poem!
