  • A scene near Cobargo, New South Wales, Australia.

  • This boat was interesting do-to it looked like it ran ashore, after taking several pictures it may have been put there on purpose?.

  • Originally made for a contest. I won second place. This is a digital landscape, made in Terragen. There is no photography involved. The terrain is Big Bend, Utah.

  • The flickrsa/SACentral group scoured Second Valley (a small fishing town about 100klm south of Adelaide, South Australia) about a month ago with our cameras. This is one of my few good shots from the day. I really regret not taking my tripod, but it was a fun day! • Rabaul Harbour at the base of the Tuvurvur Volcano. The colouring is caused by iron oxide leaching from the rocks into the salt water. If anyone can describe this process more accurately or in more detail, please leave a comment on this page.

  • colors from camera settings. enjoy ! — / sorry for the mega addition of pictures coming soon. I need the pictures uploaded to make calendars available soon ^^

  • Light ship wreck at Vrilya Point on Cape York, Australia, in a very isolated location in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Queensland. Can only be reached at low tide, in a 4WD vehicle or by boat. In its heyday, the lightship was used as a lighthouse, until it was replaced by modern nautical warning systems.

  • Best viewed as larger as possible, here’s a view of the dungeon-like gate in the lower part of the North Star Mine. Interesting to note how much water from Wolf Creek is passing by so violently yet very little of the ground seems undercut but the current. Still, if the creek floods, I’d not want to be behind that gate with a nude model posing for wildly interesting shots. :-O For you Nikon D80 users (or anyone who thinks they can set their “imitation gear” to work as well. Hehehehehe!), here are the numbers for this scene including the water, the lighting, and the composition: F-stop: f/5.3 / Exposure time: 1/13 / ISO-400 / focal length of 35mm / Metering: Center Weighted Average / Maximum aperture: 4.7 (I used my bracketing option for exposure time but the D80 gives you this number for the lens as well.) The shot was taken in manual mode with high saturation (to compensate for what was lost in flaring) and the sharpness at hard (to emphasize the contrast between the rapid current and the completely still ground and structure. And once again, all the slow and extremely slow exposure speeds were taken sans tripod by bracing myself and the camera on varying parts of a tree and a bridge overlooking this view. With the VR (vibration reduction) turned on but the shutter delay turned off, I was able to get stable images 9 of 10 times. And it wasn’t like this is the first shot of this tableau: my guide and I spent at least 20 minutes figuring out how to shoot this by trial and error. Looking at the results of each crummy shot, we got her D60 and my D80 to capture the churning water in varying states of smoothness even with full sunlight blowing out some of the frames. The worst of that I cropped from many shots, including this one.

  • Rusty #11 in Calendar Red Red Rust

  • The view from the new Lorne Pier, looking back toward the shoreline. Great Ocean Road Calendar /

  • A dinghy at the Ventura Beach boatyard and marina. Doesn’t need to be a yacht to enjoy the sea. / Straight from the camera Nikon D40x 18-200 zoom

  • F/V Lady Regina / Seabrook Harbor / Seabrook, NH November 2008

  • Hilarys Boat Harbour. perfect clear day bright blue sky!

  • In Grand Canyon, some of the falls run red. The red color is from the iron in the rock rusting and the red rust settles into the sediment at the bottom of the water. When it rains and a lot of water is running, it stirs up the sediment, which turns the water red. This red, rusty water also stains the rocks red. Canon 30D / / Welcome!
