  • This is the same boat as in Waterline.

  • This is a photo of the sea barrier at the wharf in St. Phillips, Newfoundland. The salt water from the ocean has rusted the bolts and caused this array of rainbow colors to stain the wood. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

  • Acrylic, Mixed Media & Muslin. / Painted by Ciska June 07 61CM X 92CM ORIGINAL SOLD

  • The shipwreck of the S. S. Dicky on a Sunshine Coast Beach in Australia. A 40 ton steamer ran aground in 1893. The sea has gradually carved away at it after over 110 years of the waves washing over it. A glorious sunrise helped illuminate it as the tides began to come in.

  • Fishing boat in shallow water, Phu Quoc, Vietnam

  • The SS Dicky was washed ashore onto Dicky Beach in 1893 during a cyclone. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. / / The suburb and beach was named after the ship. The beach is an unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand, on Queensland’s magnificent Sunshine Coast. Taken with my 5D and 16-35mm lens and I was so lucky to have a nature spectacle as the fog rolled in from West creating a mystic ambience I have also written a photographers guide if you are interested in knowing more about this site

  • As one era passes slowly into the next, these vestiges of a simpler age fall into disrepair, then fall into the sea. / Before the advent of road haulage every seaside community needed either one of these jettys or a railhead connected to the main centre. / The hustle and bustle these places saw, loading thousands of bags of potatoes, millions of superfeet of timber, tons of couta and crayfish and cheeses, untold cattle, sheep, pigs & horses. Not to mention all the worldy goods for the community. Montagu, NW Tasmania Nikon D40 / Sigma 10-20mm lens @ 10mm / ISO 200 / F/11 / 1/60th second / Polarising filter featured in First Things group 22nd October 2009 / featured in Nature’s Reclamation group 23rd October 2009

  • ...not all stars come from the sky.

  • Extreme closeup with 60mm macro of burnout car. Tiny rust spots showing through. This reminded me as soon as I saw it of pack ice in the Antarctic ….. the deep cold blue of the southern ocean with the ice floating on it. Nikon D90 1/250s f/16 ISO 800 Handheld. Best viewed large /

  • The SS Gayundah, slowly being reclaimed by the sea. / For this image I took a 15 sec exposure at f14 with an NDX400 and ND4 filters, then keeping the camera on the tripod I took off the filters and captured a wave breaking over her bow with a quick shutterspeed. I combined the two exposures in photoshop. / The wreck lies at Woody Point, Queensland.

  • Abstract of rust on metal. Nikon D200, Nikkor 24-120mm

  • One caught a few months back, and one of my favorites of the day, but for some reason I overlooked it. Was the first day I purchased my new Wide Angle lens for the 5D Mk II, full frame. I ended up buying the 16-35mm f2.8 L II, and she is a beauty! All I need now if the time to get out and capture more of the beautiful mother nature at work :) The wreck of the “SS Dicky”, at Dicky Beach, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. She isn’t looking so good these days, as the sea rips away at the remains every tide. Canon 5D Mk II, 16mm. Available very large and best viewed Large!
