This is a poem from my recently published book, / “God Loves A Riddle: A Small Collection of Poems.” All confusing and affirming. / These poems were written during the most base need survival years in / Boulder, Colorado; while facing 20 year old PTSD flashbacks of the murder of my infant son never before surfaced. / It seems I was piecing my fragmented life together almost as quickly as the puzzle pieces were being thrown at me! Frightenly abstract.

I come from a musical family and ever since I was little my aunts and uncles have written lyrics or music and then gotten together to create music for the words and words for the music. Family synergy. :) This work was written with music playing in my head that I do not have the talent to put onto a page, but in my Dad’s hands something exciting might happen. :)

I wrote this poem in August of 2003 and it has gone through many tweaks since then. It has never been published and I am a little wary of putting on RB because of the First Rights issue. However, I wanted to join the Boredom Competitions on the 24/7 group’s latest competition What Moves You. I may decide to take this down after the competition or not, depending upon the response it receives. I chose this piece because, while a car and driving do “move” a person – traffic does not. So, while this poem may appear to reflect something that does not move me, it is actually depicting something that IS moving me…just at a slower pace, which is aggravating. I also think it works on two levels and has a metaphorical connection to being “moved” as well. Sometimes, what moves me not to get into the car and go is the thought of traffic and “rush hour”. I think it is also what moves many people to exhibit signs of road rage. I hope you enjoy! As always, feedback is sought and appreciated! Life these days is so fast and rushed, i just want to stop and breathe but life leaves no space or time for that. Its constant stress, traffic and rushing about trying to do everything right now for everyone! I hate schedules and rushing… and so many car accidents result from this, people are speeding, keeping going, not thinking, being reckless and its actually quite worrying… everyone needs to relax, to philosophisise and breathe…
