Ever get the feeling that you’ve left something behind? This image was sold to a mystery buyer on RB as a small framed print Also sold to another mystery buyer on RB as a matted print and it has also had 3 card sales on RB. It’s been featured on the RB art pages and in the Technical Photography group, which all told makes it my most popular and successful piece so far. So I’d just like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who has contributed to it’s popularity, I’m very grateful to each and ever one of you!
Love the size of the fuselage, just has an amazing shape about it and the Iberia jet has a striking graphic nature… great looking plane, not so good an airline!
Capt. John Davis and Bombardier Lt. Carl Thompson are walking passed their bird to meet the rest of the boys for a few beers. Both can faintly hear music and laughter of men spilling from a tent near the end of the runway. Davis looks back into the setting sun, listens to the big radial engines still ticking from an earlier test flight. The distinct smell of burnt oil still lingers in the air. / “God I love that smell” he thinks to himself. / He gazes down upon the puddles of oil underneath the port and starboard engines. / “Hey, does it look like engine one is leaking more than usual?” John asks, turning to Carl who had his half smoked cigarette in the corner of his mouth. / “It’s been leaking more since Frankfurt”, Carl replies. / “Frankfurt? Yeah, I think you’re right”. Davis can still hear the screams of the waistgunner, when the shrapnel tore through the entire port side. / “Poor Sammy, he never had a chance”, Davis says. / Carl didn’t reply, just walked quietly next to John, the setting sun throwing long shadows onto the tarmac, making them both look like giants. / Both men knew that tonight they indeed feel larger than life, because there is no mission tonight. Rick and Gypsy walking along the Beachport Jetty, (second longest in South Australia), at Beachport in the Limestone Coast region. The jetty is currently under repairs and handrails and railway tracks have been removed, creating the flat unguarded jetty you see here. Stretching into the distance like a runway! Female Rufous Hummingbirds have returned with their babies to guzzle at the feeders after a quiet month of nesting… / Usually there are about 12 at each of my three feeders (which I fill at least twice daily).. / I got a kick out of how these little ladies lined up so politely.
So this passed weekend I was taking some photos of this restored B-17G called the Liberty Belle. Do you ever just play around in Photoshop and then REALLY like how the changes affected your image? This is one of those for me. I know it’s TOTALLY over the top and I LOVE it ….... Hope you do as well. Click here to get more detail on this beautiful aircraft My art with 1000+ views

An old scan of my Dad’s from many years ago at Avalon. HDR’d from one 600dpi scan and then I replaced the sky in Photoshop with what I thought was a more interesting one. Also like it in a Selenium Tone which is one of Lightroom’s presets so I left it as that and did a bit of touching up with the levels etc.
A 360 degree panorama of a runway intersection on an abandoned WWII airfield, stretched and run through a polar coordinates distortion filter… in other words… A gross distortion of the truth!! :O)
