The Hayden Ranch, 10 miles south of Leadville Colorado on US 24 Founded in 1859 the Hayden Ranch operated mainly as a hay ranch through the 1890s, providing feed for the horses and mules serving Leadville Colorado’s mining industry. With the Silver Panic of 1893 and the arrival of the automobile a few years later, the ranch turned to grazing cattle. Since 1947, the ranch has only been used seasonally and the historic buildings began their decline. I had no idea what the place was until several years after I took this photo exactly as it appears here strait from the camera lens. I just thought it looked great – one of those “turn the car around” moments. .

I’ve had this dinky since I was about 4 years old. As you can see, it’s in hard shape but still kicking haha. It brought me many good times as a child, just thought I’d share.
