One of my favorite cars. Absolute classic! Processed from a number of images. The Mustang and city background were taken in Brick Lane, London, while the landscape was taken in Independence, Kansas, and the Route 66 was taken, well, along Route 66!
Two sales of this image – one laminated print and one matted print. This image placed 3rd in the Nov ‘08 Route 66 avatar challenge. ROUTE 66 IMAGE COLLECTION Good food! ~ Cool atmosphere! ~ Lots of fun! Located on Route 66 in Williams, Arizona, Twisters is an family-owned authentic 1950’s soda fountain. Step back in time when you stop in for a burger and shake. While you are bopping to those 50s tunes, you might even want to try the “Route 66 Beer Float” or perhaps the “Cherry Phosphate”. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ *Please don’t copy or download this image. My very first job was pumping gas for a small Mobil Oil Station on a country highway similar to the picture I’ve created here. I worked nights enjoying the big sky, bright stars and loved the Mobil oil flying horse. Various nocturnal creatures would stop by to say hello and sniff around. My customers were mostly local farmers and country people, I knew everybody on a first name basis and never got robbed. I remember at the time gasoline was twenty five cents a gallon. / It seems we now face the end of the cheap-fossil-fuel era. It is no exaggeration to state that reliable supplies of cheap oil and natural gas underlie everything we identify as the necessities of modern life - not to mention all of its comforts and luxuries: central heating, air conditioning, cars, airplanes, electric lights, inexpensive clothing, recorded music, movies, hip-replacement surgery, national defense - you name it.
This Valentine Diner was manufactured by the Arthur Valentine company and was once part of a chain of identically constructed, individually serialized diners that stretched across the United States and operated using the Valentine Lunch System. This diner is no longer in working condition, but a surprising number still are. Of those, some are still located on old Route 66. Due to its location and orientation, it is impossible to get a shot of this diner that does not include power lines and other distractions. So, I did quite a bit of work to clone those out and put in a nice evening sky from Santa Fe. Pentax K20D, 1/80 @ F8, ISO 200, 18mm

Digital painting over one of my own Barn photographs located on the famous Route 66 that runs thru the N. Eastern portion of Connecticut. The drive thru this part of the country can entertain the eyes and mind endlessly. Fall is my fav season to roam thru it all. I think it makes for a nice many occassion card. Taken somewhere along Route 66 in New Mexico.
Another one from Route 66 New Mexico. I really struggled with this one, originally I was going for a warm, sepia type of effect but the textures weren’t giving me the mood I was going for. After playing around with others textures I settled on a cooler, eerier look. I should also tell you that this one was tonemapped before importing into PS. Hope you like this one.
