Shot at a danish themepark in 2005
This effect was achieved by clamping my camera to the roundabout and triggering a delayed shutter release with the self-timer shortly before spinning the roundabout… People were looking at me thinking I was crazy… The things we do for art!!!

This delightful old carousel is located in the Southbank precinct of Melbourne (Australia) & is in great condition for it’s age. Built in Germany in 1878, it was imported to Aust in 1927 & the accompanying fairground organ arrived in 1928. This carousel toured the southern Aust states, Tasmania & NZ – first transported by horsedrawn wagons, then in 1932 the company changed to trucks for transport. At the end of each show, it was taken apart for removal to the next show, where it was rebuilt again. In 1950 the carousel was purchased by the Short Family & they are still the owners. As of this year, it has stopped touring the country & is looking to become a permanent fixture in it’s current location. If they get permission to stay, they will also be eligible for government funding to help restore this wonderful carousel to it’s original beauty (although it is in extremely good condition, it is in need of continued maintenence & restoration). Yes, I am a carousel junkie!!! You will be seeing more Melbourne carousels in the near future :-D
The is a photograph I found in my loft. It is a treasured moment captured by my Father. Its probably the kind of shot that thousands – millions of people have but the look on my face is so how I remember feeling when I was overjoyed about something. I could have cleaned it up a bit but I think leaving the staining and the creases etc place the shot in its place in time I do hope its allowed to exist here even though it not by me – I want to celebrate it with you….. Thanks!
Model – Danica/Nytevision I have a few versions from this particular set, but I really liked this one even though it wasn’t the final piece I chose to represent the idea. Pentacon 6 TL + Kodak Portra 160VC / Barbie Ferrari’s are still cool. Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas
All the roundabouts here are neatly planted or so I thought. There is a large roundabout a few minutes from where I live that has suddenly burst…..no I mean exploded into a riot of jumbled colour. Early one morning i went to investigate and to my delight found it had been planted with a fantastic array of beautiful flowers. I spent a happy hour ( 6am-7am) snap happy and towards the end the sun came up and cast beautiful light on them. I hope this selection of images reflect that and you enjoy looking at my Roundabout Magic collection. Description of a roundabout / A roundabout is a type of road junction, more commonly and technically known as a “Traffic Circle” at which traffic enters a one-way stream around a central island. In the United States it is technically called a modern roundabout, to emphasize the distinction from the older, larger type of traffic circle. Overall, roundabouts are statistically safer than both traffic circles and traditional intersections,[1] with the exception that cyclists have a significantly increased crash rate at large roundabouts. Roundabouts do not cope as well with the traffic on motorways, highways, or similar fast roads. info from Wikipedia

Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 17-70 lens at 58mm, F8, shutter speed 1/80 seconds ISO100, tweaked in Photoshop On Sunday morning I took a trip to Blackrod to visit my work mate Stuart who had told me about a scarecrow festival they have every year in his village. There were loads of very inventive scarecrows but The Magic Roundabout one really caught my eye….they even had the music playing on repeat…..ahhhh childhood memories!! Magic Roundabout Anybody who has not seen the series has probably thought I have gone mad!!!
