i wanted to go play golf today….it started raining so that was out….then a little while ago when it stopped i went for a hike down the mountain and hit a real slick spot and my foot went right into a tree…broke my middle toe….the bite was getting back up to the top of the mountain and home….ouch…...so i got home and put it up with ice…and played in beautiful flowers… i hope you like this..i just love this rose…
Sometimes the flowers outlive the sentiments. / Sometimes the sentiments wither with the last rose.
ROSE The lily has a smooth stalk, / Will never hurt your hand; / But the rose upon her brier / Is lady of the land. / There’s sweetness in an apple tree, / And profit in the corn; / But lady of all beauty / Is a rose upon a thorn. / When with moss and honey / She tips her bending brier; / And half unfolds her glowing heart / She sets the world on fire . Watercolour pencil drawing on watercolour paper , size 30 cm / 42 cm. Artwork is for sale, signed and protected by copyright. Many thanks for stopping by ! A lovely miniature peach rose, after a rain shower. Canon EOS 450D, 50mm f1.8 lens
Remember the softness, and the sweet fragrance, don’t dwell on the thorns. / We can find fault with most things if we want to but it is not what we should dwell on. /

How coud you hurt me, / throw my love away. / How could you hurt me, / day after day. You broke my heart, / with your selfish ways, / You broke my heart, / Now my minds in a haze. I’m like a rose, / that’s been thrown to the ground. / Crushed and broken, / bleeding profound. I’m like a rose, / all tattered and torn. / I once was beautiful, / now I’m all forlorn. How could you hurt me, / treat me this way. / How could you hurt me, / I no longer want to stay. I’m like a rose, / with dew of the morn. / I’m like a rose, / will you miss me when I’m gone. So close to frost time, I find myself smelling all of my roses as if to preserve their perfume for winter’s cold days. The petals on this red beauty are like velvet and the touch of them is so satisfying to my senses. If only there was a method to preserve there elegance, color and grace, then my memory would provide the perfume. Thanks for stopping to smell my rose. Sorry I couldn’t find a scratch and sniff, you’ll have to rely on your own memory for the smell! Image taken in Shady Cove, Oregon with an Olympus E-520

A sketch from the archives, painted today…provenance unknown, but perfect for the Empty Studio series, as it’s simple and understated... Sepia Inks on Industrial Paper. Behind the golden western hills / The sun goes down, a founder’d bark, / Only a mighty sadness fills / The silence of the dark. / O twilight sad with wistful eyes, / Restore in ruth again to me / The shadow of the peace that lies / Beyond the purple sea. / The sun of my great joy goes down, / Against the paling heights afar, / Gleams out like some glad angel’s crown, / A yellow evening star; / The glory from the western hills / Falls fading, spark on spark, / Only a mighty sadness fills / The spaces of the dark.
