Pure Watercolour on Arches 140lb…. I try to paint all my flowers from life, No pre drawing, just wetting the paper, dropping in some pale washes of pigment and see where it takes me.. It allows so much more freedom…..
A macro watercolour of a beautiful orange rose which glows with light and colour. The original is available for sale, contact me through bubblemail.
A grownup “Just Joey” rose, waking up. A late spring bloomer. Below are the paintings and photos on my new 2010 Redbubble Calendar: /
One of my first macro shots that I have done! Those waterdrops look really glamorous when they are magnified. Shot taken Summer 2008. This work was featured in the November issue of the German Advanced Photoshop! Read the Interview Camera: Canon EOS 30D / Lens: Canon EF 100 mm 1:2.8 Macro USM / Editing: Photoshop CS3 Original source: Lust by Lilyas
Luxury is the first of a series of roses that I called the Magical Roses. I have altered the colors to make the flower stand out even more. Software: Photoshop. ‘TIS THE LAST ROSE OF SUMMER ‘TIS the last rose of summer, / Left blooming alone ; / All her lovely companions / Are faded and gone ; / No flower of her kindred, / No rose-bud is nigh, / To reflect back her blushes, / Or give sigh for sigh. I’ll not leave thee, thou lone one ! / To pine on the stem ; / Since the lovely are sleeping, / Go sleep thou with them. / Thus kindly I scatter / Thy leaves o’er the bed, / Where thy mates of the garden / Lie scentless and dead. So soon may I follow, / When friendships decay, / And from Love’s shining circle / The gems drop away. / When true hearts lie wither’d, / And fond ones are flown, / Oh ! who would inhabit / This bleak world alone ? Thomas Moore (1779-1852)
I beLIEVE this is Elle – can’t remember quite for sure. If anyone can verify this for me I’ll be grateful. It began blooming in late spring, and only lasted two years for us, but gave quite a show while we had it.
Romance is back. I needed to work on an image with a touch of warmth today as it’s -7 outside. A composite of various photographic, text and texture layers (21 layers in total) Another in the series of works including poetry by my favourite poet Emily Dickinson. WHEN roses cease to bloom, dear, / And violets are done, / When bumble-bees in solemn flight / Have passed beyond the sun, / / The hand that paused to gather / Upon this summer’s day / Will idle lie, in Auburn,— / Then take my flower, pray!
ELLE / Photo best viewed large. / / / ELLE was FEATURED in the group:IN THE PINK / / / / / ELLE was FEATURED in the group:THE SCAVENGER / HUNT / / / / / Somewhat more compact than most hybrid teas, this vigorous, award-winning rose is ideal for small garden areas or large containers. This beautiful, light pink rose would be the shining star in any landscape or indoor setting! / ELLE is favored amongst most florists, and its’ buds are the perfect attraction for any corsage, bouquet, or basket. It is easily recognized for its’ soft, silky petals and beautiful blooms. This beautiful rose blooms in early spring and will last throughout summer with proper care. Excellent disease resistance and very dense, glossy green foliage make this new rose a winner in any garden! / / Pink Roses have a very rich history of meaning and symbolism. Light pink roses have come to symbolize sympathy and grace, while dark pink roses stand for admiration and appreciation/gratitude. Mauve roses mean beauty, love at first sight, and enchantment according to the Victorian Language of Flowers. / / For the the History of Pink Roses, go to ALL ABOUT PINK ROSES / / / / Photo was shot with my Canon Digital EOS 40D. / Lens used: Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

Best Viewed Larger The original of this image was taken in my backyard on June 6, 2009 with the Nikon D40x and the 60mm macro/micro Nikon lens. Shutter speed was 1/320, aperture f/20.0, exp. -.33, iso 400. Post processing was another experiment, this time in Corel Painter 11 by hand-painting over the entire image with mostly the Oil Pastel, Round Oil Pastel brush. I’d like to dedicate this to Renee Dawson who got me interested in Painter (which is a TON of fun, by the way) and to Carolyn Staut, another master of this program who has been so consistently encouraging!!! Thank you both!!!
