Two chickens out for an afternoon stroll in winter, near Kelso, Borders. They were starting out from the farm just behind me. Where were they going? The other side of the road or the end of it? I seem to recall this was my first attempt at selective colouring (but am willing to be corrected by RBers with a good memory (or, who need to get out more)). This is perhaps my most favourite shot because it has caused so many other people to smile and add comments. Thank you all. I hope it continues to bring joy to many more. A zodiac image I did originally for a mug design over on deviantART, but someone suggested I make a t-shirt, too, so here we are! It looks a little unresolved to me, so any input as far as design or additional elements would be much appreciated. Thank you for viewing. In order, from left to right: Pig, dog, rooster, monkey, ram, horse, snake, dragon, rabbit, tiger, ox, and rat

I’m not sure how many people will actually pick up on the low-brow humor behind this one. / We’ll see how it goes. / (:

from Aesop’s Fables A Rooster was scratching the ground in a farmyard in search of food for himself and his hens, when he happened to turn up a precious stone. “You may be a treasure to your proper owner,” he said, “but for me I would rather have a single barley corn than all the jewels in the world.” Moral: The value of an object is in the eye of the beholder. Ink drawing with digital color, 2006, part of a series This image has been in the top ten of a challenge for colored art in the Finks of Inks group—thanks everyone! This image is one of many story images of birds and animals featured in my calendar Legendary Tales: Myths and Legends
This cluckhead character is a type I hope we have seen the last of for a while – Out to take over the world just because it seems like it should all belong to him. The horse is very tired of his rider.

I went down to the crossroads, / Fell down on my knees. / Down to the crossroads, / Fell down on my knees. / Asked the Lord above for mercy, / “Take me, if you please.” Excerpt from Robert Johnson”s Crossroad Blues Started with a basic photo of a road and added the storm with a photo of a cloud I took and build on that photo with brushes and blurs and film grain, added photos of a hat, cats, chickens and a house and blended these with the backgrounds, detailed with brushes and layer effects.
