This was a case of right place at the right time. This picture doesn’t actually do the sunset justice. It had to be seen to be believed, and of course, I was with my cousin and not my Fiance!
Experimental Card two images combined and altered in Photoshop Changed the text so it dosnt get chopped off in the redbubble card making machine.

Another attempt of a nautical image.
I am most proud of this shot so far in my short time doing photography. This image incorporates my passionate nature with my love of the ocean. I used to lobster fish with my Dad and so the ocean holds a lot of dear, and not so dear LOL, memories for me. I almost froze my hands off doing this. It was snowing a little while before I took this shot so you can imagine close to the water, with a breeze, how cold it was. However, in the name of love and romance, anything goes! LOL
Taken on a very cold day at White Point Beach, Nova Scotia Canada. My then Fiancee now wife wrote this in the wet sand, and I took the shot. I thought this might make a nice Valentine’s Day card. This image has taken on new meaning for me now. My Mother had been in the hospital for a little over a week. We knew she was on her deathbed. She had suffered for many years with a number of serious chronic health issues, the most debilitating being COPD – a chronic lung disease which had her housebound and connected to oxygen 24-7. Well this morning (Feb. 15, 2009) she passed away peacefully. The reason this image is special to me now is that it was featured on the Homepage here on RedBubble just hours before she passed away. In my heart I feel that she had something to do with it. This was her way of telling me she loves me for one last time since this image prominently features the words “I LOVE YOU” in the sand. I’m personally not a fan of Valentines Day as I don’t feel I need one day in the year to show love, but what I do love and appreciate is the simple things. I don’t like extravagant presents or gestures, I much prefer a simple daisy picked from a field and a hand written love note.. I think these simple gestures are slowly being lost in the commercialism. Anyway, This is my interpretation of simple love…..

One of our favorite campgrounds has this lovely little pond. I happened to catch it just right that day. You had to drive several miles on a very narrow twising road through the moutains of West Virginia to get there. Very nerve wracking, especially when you are pulling a trailer. Oh, and “Romance” is actually the name of the town! It is a rare occasion when there is no wind blowing the palms, and there are enough clouds over the ocean to create a dramatic sunset at this location. I spent a week’s worth of evenings in this area before the conditions set up perfectly. Technically this is a series of 5 long exposures layered. I was using a 10mm lens on my little Canon XTi. It worked. This beach is in an area where there will soon be plenty of new construction, sadly. The “old” Maui is slipping away, and it breaks my heart. I hope images like this will preserve the pristine flavor for future generations.
