It almost seems a shame to have this wonderful white marble staircase covered with a red carpet, and amazing even after all this time the carpet was still very soft and plush. The red of the carpet does work well though with the orange marble on the top and the spindles of the banister.

Everybodies favourite badass villain, shredding licks on his guitar. This is my first real digital artwork that didn’t take less than half an hour to make. In total i probably spent about 10 hours on this tedious beast. But i am quite proud of it :). The idea came to me when trying to think of a spin on ‘sound’ for the sound competition that didn’t use anything like a speaker or a musical note or something obvious like that. And for anyone who doesn’t know who shredder is, or what ‘shredding’ on a guitar is: / Shredder is the villain from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (at least the one i watched as a kid he was) / and / Shredding (on guitar): is when a guitarist performs a guitar solo really really fast and it sounds extremely awesome.

I also realized, even officially, that is on books and records and such, there is at least three ways to spell Jimmy, Jimmie, Jimi’s name and it’s no wonder I get confuzzled! MUSICAL ART PEOPLE: There is a musical instrument, musical notes, and a musical man, and a poem regarding musical history. Deal! Other people: learn the definition of homage, and “not what it seems” because this is not who you think it is, or about whom you think it is. The variety of music should give you a clue. The call went out across Redbubble land to find suitable names for three two-headed Tasmanian Devils about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime around the Redbubble globe. The response was brilliant, many thanks to everyone who put on their thinking caps and came up with some very interesting names. I had my work cut out choosing only three (or in this case six!), so without any gilding of the lily and absolutely no further ado, may I present… Chaos and Anarchy – suggested by AlexMac Rogue and Rascal – suggested by Marion Cullen Cedric and Beau – suggested by my fellow Taswegian samedog. These last two names hold a very special significance… Cedric is the poster child for the campaign to save the Tasmanian Devil from extinction and Beau comes from the Beaumauris Zoo where the last Tassie Tiger (Thylacine) held in captivity died in 1936. So it seemed fitting to acknowledge two of Tasmania’s icons here, the tiger being (qute possibly but rumour has it not…) extinct, and the devil facing imminent extinction due mainly to a mysterious facial tumour disease. If you would like to join in the madness, the Redbubble Devils Group is up and running, check out the forums for all the latest news. Want to register as a host? Join the group and let us know over here so we can add you to The List. Where to from here? Well… I shall be sending these three pesky packages off on the first leg of their trip on Monday. It would have been sooner but they informed me they wanted one last hurrah – I’m scared…. very scared. Our devils will be shipped with the following instructions to their new hosts: Fun is compulsory. If you do not show your devil a good time he/she/both is likely to keep you awake all night with his/her ferociously scary growling. Take photo’s of your devil doing devlish things, or just ordinary things that you and I would take for granted, like a trip to the grocery store, will be a hoot for your devil. We’d love to see photos of stuff that is unique to your part of the world. Write a journal and share anecdotes and photos about your time together with the community. Don’t forget to tag any journals or images with the words Redbubble Devils. Please also feel free to join and add them to the Redbubble Devils group. It will be best if your devil leaves your hands within 72hours. He/she/both is a traveller, if he/she/both stays in one place too long we can’t be held responsible for the damage he/she/both may do to your household furnishings… or your cat. To find out the next destination for your devil, contact the person at the top of The List via bubblemail for a shipping address. Did I mention that fun is compulsory? Best View Larger Featured in Summer in the North-East USA group. Taken in my backyard on 06/30/2009 with a Canon 50D camera in Rome, PA. MUSIC / Garth Brooks The Thunder Rolls I couldn’t be on the internet last night because of the storm. So, I set up my equipment underneath the old apple tree in the backyard while it was raining and I capture this. I know I was taking a big risk but it pay off, I think. It is uncertain whether the instrument is a descendant of the viola da gamba or from the violin, but it is traditionally aligned with the violin family. While the double bass is nearly identical in construction to the other violin family instruments, it also has features which derive from the viols. Like many other string instruments, the double bass is played either with a bow (arco) or by plucking the strings (Pizz). In orchestral repertoire and tango music, both bowing and plucking styles are used. In jazz music, the bass is mostly plucked, except for some solos (and also occasional written parts in modern jazz) which are performed with the bow.
