Q. – This is a gift for a friend, can you leave a special note for her? / A. – Absolutely. Just leave a note when you order and iwill make sre this is done. Also free of charge. Rolls of wonderful colours from my senamy collection that I use for the design and creation of my millinery pieces (hats). / My hats are mostly custom-made and I’ve done commissions for commercial sponsorship, for weddings, for television drama and for many race-goers. It is such wonderful material to work with. It comes in rolls of many different colours as well as lurex threaded, waffle weave and multi-coloured textured variety. Senamy is a woven material made from the grasses at the base of the banana tree and has become one of the most popular materials in millinery (hat-making) in recent years as it is a natural fibre, dyes really well and is very workable. I have no idea of how old this metal antique wind-up rolling toy is, but it has to be at least fifty years old. It belonged to one of my great-great aunts who had been collecting wind-up toys for many, many years. I remember this being on a self in her home when I was a very young child, so since I’m 41 years old, now, and my Mom remembered it when she was a kid (she would have been 61 this year), I know it’s at the very least fifty years old. It still works, too. I tried it out a few weeks ago….turned the key on the side and off it went. :) Since my Mom passed away, I now have it in my care and will try to keep it in good condition. No kids are allowed to play with it. Only select adults, I guess.
