  • Work Escapes Me
    by Philip Rogan

    US$4.66–US$106.40

On this particular day whilst wandering aimlessly through Dublin’s Smithfield market which was undergoing a facelift or being trendified more to the point I was photographing the new giant gas fuelled streetlights (yes that yoke to the right) when a JCB came flying by. Pigs do this too. Sometimes we feel that work is a great weight that we have to bear or something that we must escape here work was escaping. A great card for somebody leaving one job for another or taking up a new position, leaving university, school or of course a Digger driver.

  • Irish Girl
    by Philip Rogan

    US$5.99–US$136.80

A commisioned job from the model Nuala who was in a dance group. We simply dragged a lot of stuff with us and messed around to see what might come out of it. Nuala brought this great fake fur coat with her and I had a Russian army hat I had bought in Prague, combined with the ridiculous palm trees that line much of Irelands coast we had our portrait of an Irish girl. Taken on a Nikon F301 in 1992 or 3 along the Coast Road Raheny Dublin. sold as matted print to a non rb member on rb

  • A middle aged gent takes a brisk walk along the seafront on Dollymount Beach, Bull Island Dublin City. A beautiful part of Dublins Northside and amazingly a place to learn how to drive a car! Very windy and great for windsurfers of all types, both land and sea. Only available as a card at the moment til I get my hands on a neg scanner.

  • Hard Smokin' Man
    by Philip Rogan

    US$5.65–US$129.20

Picture of my friend Mark taken about 16 years ago. He had, has quite a rubbery face when needed so I think after a discussion about the possibility of looking like a smoking vagina Mark made this attempt and i photographed it. I will probably change this description tomorrow after I wake up. Or maybe not. Didn’t.

  • The Atlantic meets Ireland
    by Philip Rogan

    US$4.66–US$106.40

Being pushed off my feet and inbetween squalls of rain and blown seawater I got out of the car and looked along the coast of Achill Island on Irelands west coast. Though not a particularly stormy day for December it was freezing without gloves. The salt in the air was refreshing and the act of taking a photograph though a little difficult was rewarding interaction with this most vibrant and exciting landscape. I love it. Taken in December 2006.

  • Some friends of mine, Swedish girls, were at home in Dublin bored. So we had a mess the flat up, put on colourful T-shirts photo session. This was between takes. / Loud music, dancing, cigarettes and four great looking girls, from Sweden. What more do you want. Taken in 1994 or 1995.

  • Kitchen Dreaming Cerca 1993
    by Philip Rogan

    US$5.32–US$121.60

Here is my friend dreaming in her share house in Cadogan road Fairview Dublin cerca 1993. What had struck her right then I do not know in fact I do not remember whether I asked her to strike such a pose but I think not. I love the image and I particularly like that at that moment a little bubble lived briefly atop the fairy liquid bottle. Her twin sister is in in my portfolio too.

  • STOP STOP STOP
    by Philip Rogan

    US$4.66–US$106.40

“One dark night as the Summer was coming to an end and Autumn was first making itself felt with cool breezes a hush settled on Suburbia at the corners known as the Five Stops. Two figures appeared on trundling wheels and stopped. I took their picture and then took my leave.” Suburban tale of Drear & Dread #001 from the Magazine “Ordinary Tails” Issue 54. Published by Curtain Press 2007.

  • The Flats
    by Philip Rogan

    US$4.83–US$110.20

Ballymun housing estate on Dublins Northside in 1995. A community that was plagued with drugs and drug dealers and of course poverty and apathy. There was more than a few suicides by leaping from the balconies and stairwells of the flats. A governments dream for low cost housing in the 1960´s when they cleared the inner cities. Ireland was not ready for this type of housing as it was not a bungalow on an acre of land front and back and it was therefore systematically neglected. In many ways “The Flats” were ahead of their times and those living there suffered because of it. That said Ballymun had & has a great sense of community and pride sadly lacking in many “better-off” housing estates. Now scheduled for demoliton, three of these towers, all named after leaders of Irelands 1916 armed rising against British rule, still stand. Here there be neighbours.

  • On a Knife Edge
    by Philip Rogan

    US$33.25–US$106.40

The edge of one of the Twin Towers in NYC. How could something this massive and solid looking fall? www.zeitgeistmovie.com flawed but interesting

  • In love with Paul Young
    by Philip Rogan

    US$5.99–US$42.75

A friend of mine cerca 1990 when she (and she still is) was a huge fan of the pop singer Paul Young. She was in love with her music, Bauhaus, Japan, Kate Bush, David Bowie…Her records were immaculately stored and filed and were numerous. Being the age of tape there was also an enormous amount of self made compilations. This portrait set out to capture her love of music and somewhat the distance of the performers. She now lives in London and is in her own band The Blue Vegas.

  • Wedding Dress Detail Dos
    by Philip Rogan

    US$4.66–US$106.40

The things that end up on the ground.

  • Nestled in Tramuntana mountain range of Mallorca largest island of the Balearics and incredibly popular holiday destination spot lies the town of Valdemossa. The main part of the town is above this section which is from where I took the picture. Its streets are filled with oranges and it was here that Frederik Chopin and his lover George Sands spent part of their Winter in Majorca of which Sands wrote the book of the same name. / Mallorca has been trying to change its image of sun, sea, sand & sex unsuccesfully for some time but there are a multitude of cultural and sporting events on the island that run through the winter time so you can spend your own winter in Mallorca.

  • They say that the married man outlives the single man by up to ten years, which for a ten year old is a lifetime. Here Ciaran makes the choice for a longer and happier life by marrying Olwen in a Celtic ceremony on the Island of Inís Mor off the west coast of Ireland.

  • Coloured pencil and Ink 2009

  • Married in Madrid, Armando and Laura leave the city church only to be deluged in handfuls of rice. But hey thats tradition.

  • Marilyn in the movies
    by Philip Rogan

    US$5.32–US$121.60

A black and white image taken in 1995 during Irish director Ricky Corrs short film shoot “I am River Phoenix” the story of a surreal transfer of souls as the tragic news breaks that River Phoenix, one of the worlds most promising young talents has died. In this scene River Phoenix is about to meet Marilyn Monroe. This photo and the one titled “I am River Phoenix” were taken atop Irelands then tallest building, the 15 story Liberty Hall.

  • Dublin Lose
    by Philip Rogan

    US$5.32–US$121.60

I honestly cannot remember when this photo was taken but I would think about 1997. We were down in Thurles to watch Dublin play Gaelic football against god knows who. Anyway despite our best support and the teams best effort, we lost. The atmosphere between the fans and the locals afterwards was absolutely brilliant. A huge party erupted in the centre of Thurles and the Dubs had as good a time as the winners, from Clare or Tipp or Cork or wherever they were from. / The connection between these strangers was probably based on the idea of sharing but not letting go of the bottle. A trust thing but who knows?

  • The Arch of Eifell
    by Philip Rogan

    US$5.32–US$121.60

The Eifell Tower through the legs. Taken in 1990 on a trip with my photography class from Colaiste Dhulaigh Coolock Dublin.

  • a day for the fire
    by Philip Rogan

    US$4.39–US$100.32

It was a beautiful crisp cold day in County Mayo on Irelands west coast not to far from the bustling town of Westport when we stopped our mad dash tour out to Achill Island. Where I stood to take this shot there was a house beside me but the next one that I could see was this small bungalow in the distance with the kitchen fire obviously burning peat which was the smell that hung on the air ever so lightly.

  • The bulbs of Palma de Mallorca hanging ready for another Christmas night. / I wonder what icon was used for an idea before the invention of the lightbulb? The raised finger? A candle? Light breaking through a cloud? A small hill?

  • The Tanned of Arann
    by Philip Rogan

    US$4.66–US$106.40

Whilst on the Arann Island of Inís Mor for a wedding, about a month ago, we decided or John decided that it would be a great idea to go for a swim in the nearby Atlantic Ocean. So we did. Was it cold? Go on will ya! It was grand! Just fine once you got down for a few minutes. This photo was taken by a young press ganged German tourist after being given instructions by a man in his wet underwear. Not a bad photo considering.

  • Andrew as Photographer
    by Philip Rogan

    US$4.99–US$114.00

My friend Andrew using another friend Paddy’s incredibly beautiful Leica digital camera. I want one and there is harm in wanting. / Portrait taken on the Aran Islands last September at the wonderful wedding of Ciaran & Olwen.
