One of my personal favorites. This picture taken in a rodeo (during the lasso tournament) in the south of Brazil. The cowboys are called “gauchos”, and this one is dressed typically. This type of large trousers are called “bombachas”. Captured at 300mm in negative film and then scanned.
Team penning competition at local rodeo.
Taken at the Exeter Rodeo, in Exeter Ont. Canada. Thanks for looking! =)smile /
Cowboy riding a buffalo at sunset during the end of a rodeo in Cave Creek, Arizona. Canon 20D w/ 28-135mm IS USM.
At the Phillipsburg, Kansas 2007 Rodeo. Wish I had a larger file of it. I didn’t have a computer at the time and the file was made smaller to not take up too much space on my dad’s palm pilot. I should of have him save it to a cd but I don’t think he could of from work.

Uncle Dan Purdy passed away in 2006. Mister Purdy was a life-long ranch hand on Ulupalakua Ranch, on the island of Maui, Hawaii. He is one of the men who made the Paniolo, or Hawaiian Cowboy legendary for cattle handling skills. I asked to make this portrait of him one day as I saw him riding his horse down the road, all dressed up. His was a gentleman to the end. His extended family still works and lives on the ranch today.
YEEEEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAWWWW Have you ever wondered where young Imperial AT-ATs were trained and broken in before they grew up to become the highly efficient killers you witness on the ice fields of Hoth ? AT-AT the Rodeo of course !! My extensive research into Star Wars history has unveiled this little known fact and I have made a t-shirt to celebrate it. This was taken in Colorado at a training meet for young bull riders. There were several kids aged about 6 to 17 years old. It gave me a chance to try a different type of photography than I usually attempt, focusing on the fact paced action. Prismacolor pencil on paper. Featured: / Texas – 8/20/09 / 60’s Glory – 9/6/09 / ‘Real’ Life Artwork – 9/18/09 This was my ‘Rodeo Art’ my senior year in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. It was Best of Show in district and got me a scholarship to the Western Art Academy (The Museum of Western Art at Kerrville, TX), a three-week long workshop for 24 students from the greater Houston area chosen for their Rodeo Art and portfolios. I met this guy at the Rockin’ R steakhouse in Blanco, Texas, while I was eating dinner with my family. By the way, if you ever go through there, you have to eat there. The fillet will be the best thing you’ve ever eaten, guaranteed (especially if you get it black n’ blue)... and that’s really saying something because I don’t even really like meat. YUM. Anyways, I had told my family I was concerned because I didn’t know what to draw for Rodeo Art… and then we saw this guy walk in along with another sheriff. My grandma suggested I go meet him and ask to take his picture… and I did. We had a print made for him and my grandparents met him and his wife for dinner (at the Rockin’ R, of course), so they’ve kept in touch a little bit. Sadly, I can’t remember his name… I’ll have to ask next time I see them.
