  • I was intrigued by the shape and marks on the main rock here – like a dog sitting, but with pink mark on chest (like a leaf or footprint!)

  • The world famous resort town of Banff, Alberta, Canada, nestled among lofty mountain peaks looks remote and isolated in this view from Mount Norquay. Taken with a Canon Rebel XSi using an 18-55mm lens.

  • An image of Crandell Moutain in Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, Canada, through the framing branches of lodgepole pine trees. This image was taken from a lookout on the road up to Cameron Lake. Cameron Lake.

  • A pair of pine trees alone in an alpine meadow lean apart to form a “v”. The mountain behind is the formation known as “The Palisade”. Closer and to the right is the southernmost foot of the much larger Chetamon Mountain. Captured in Jasper National park, Alberta, Canada; using a Canon Rebel XSi. The Palisade is a geologic formation of Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. It is so named because it has a sheer cliff face and vertical markings, reminiscent of palisade walls used as a protective enclosure around forts. While driving westward along Canada Highway 16 (the Yellowhead Highway), one can see the Palisade in the west as the highway first crosses the Athabasca River approximately 19km (12mi) east of Jasper townsite. The Palisade was once home to a forest fire lookout station, as it afforded a clear view of much of the Athabasca River Valley. The fire lookout has since been abandoned as more modern techniques of fire detection have become available. However, the clear view of the Athabasca River Valley remains, and one can hike to the crest of the Palisade from Pyramid Lake. This hike is approximately 10km from the lake to the crest and the elevation gain is approximately 800m. / *Source: Wikipedia
