  • Now this IS my desktop photo and is one of my favorites, obviously. / I just wish I had taken this at a higher resolution. / The Kananaskis is the foothills area of the Rockies southwest of Calgary Alberta. There is a wonderful road from Longview to Canmore which has some of the most spectacular and available scenery for shutterbugs. A sunny day is just a recipe for a wonderful day of photography.

  • 9×12 watercolor enhanced colored pencil / The American Rocky Mountain Horse is probably the latest addition to the world’s horse population. The registry was opened as recently as 1986, but since then there has been a steady development of this distinctive and attractive animals. Visually, it is not difficult to see the connection between the Rocky Mountain and the Spanish imports of early American history. Complete 2006

  • This really is a beautiful place to visit whether you live in Cornwall or are down there on holiday. Take a slow walk along the lovely trail to reach the waterfall and you’ll hear the power of the water beating down before seeing it. People come here from all over the world to be at one with themselves, to meditate or just to rest. Some people make a shrine from a personal item and leave it there hoping for healing for themselves, a love one, a friend or anyone on their healing list. • Well this shot did really well over on deviantART so I thought that I would also share with you all here too. (I honestly wasn’t expecting the 1600 odd favorites it received over there, took me by surprise!) Storm clouds fight with the evening sunset over the Colorado Rockies & Longs Peak. Every now and then I like to get a little artistic with my HDR’s and this is one of those, there is no right, no wrongs when it comes to photography and artistic interpretation, and i realize that not everyone likes that, nor this style, that is fine, I respect that, but I also ask the same of you to respect my creativeness, too! Now that being said, hope ya all dig it! / John See more on my website at www.jdebordphoto.com Minolta MAXXUM 5D / Shutter Speed: 1/25 second / F Number: F/9.0 / Focal Length: 80 mm / ISO Speed: 200

  • Castillo de San Cristobal or “Saint Christopher Castle” in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico is the largest fortification ever built by the Spanish in the New World. Declared a World Heritage site in 1983, this massive fortification covers 27 acres. This is a view from the fort of what is called the Devil’s Sentry Box. It is the oldest surviving element of San Cristobal, a lonely lookout post renown in Puerto Rican legend as the “Garita del Diablo”. Sentries manning this post regularly shouted “Alerta” during their watch to communicate with other soldiers and keep themselves awake during the long nights. This view cannot be readily seen from the fort. I was strolling along the top of the fort and could hear the roaring of the surf below but could not see it because of the high parapet walls. I decided to precariously climb out onto one of the openings where the cannons would shoot from. When I got to the edge I was struck by this wonderful sight. And as an added bonus there happened to be a person sitting on the wall.
