Another shot of Yosemite Valley from the valley floor on a cold, clear night in early spring. In all of the night landscapes I have taken, I have been continually amazed at the amount of detail that the camera is able to capture provided there is some light and an appropriate exposure duration. One of the images from my “Yosemite By Night” composition. This shot was taken from outside the Wawona Tunnel on the Highway 41 entrance to Yosemite Valley at about 10:30pm. I had about three attempts before getting this shot with the previous efforts being spoiled by vehicles driving up behind me with high beams on which resulted in the closest treetops in the foreground being overexposed and the rest of the image underexposed. It was great to be able to capture almost all of the key icons of Yosemite Valley in one shot at night – El Capitan on the left and the three Cathedral Rocks on the right with Bridalveil Falls in front of them. Sentinel Rock, Glacier Point and Half Dome can also be seen further down the valley in the background. This picture of the Mobius Arch is showing a white capped Mount Whitney in the center of it’s opening. These ancient rocks at the Alabama Hills in Lone Pine are inspirational to photograph. I must have taken over 500 shots in all. This capture was done at midnite with no moon in the sky, ISO 200 for 17 minutes with the Aperture wide open. / Nikon D90

This is my friend’s daughter at her 2nd birthday party. Despite the glasses she wears, she is actually blind – although there is hope that her optic nerves are continuing to develop and that she might someday have minimal vision. To help aid in the “seeing” process, my friend outfitted her daughter, Gia with these adorable glasses and Gia spent most of her party avoiding her guests and seemed content to walk aimlessly around the park unassisted. In between her meanderings and terrible two moments, I managed to get off a few shots of her before she turned and wandered away in a new direction.
