A rock’s eye view of the loch of lowes – I think this has a certain messy charm compared with the more pristine perfection of ‘loch of the lowes’ or ‘LoL’ Let me know what you think – comments and tips most welcome Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Etterick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) with a pocket fuji finepix A500 (there is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) loch of the lowes’ : ‘LoL’ : / ‘i am a rock’ : /

Another picture from Skye taken a week or so ago. The tide coming in rapidly on Elgol beach with the Black Cuillin mountains in the distance. Long exposure of 30 secs @f16
I took several pictures of water streaming over the ice and rocks of the Kootenay River, and the colours and textures of this particular rapid made a stunningly elemental composition. There is something about the movement of water over rocks and ice that always reminds me of the raw power of winter in the Rocky mountains. Photographed with my Canon Rebel XT and 15-55mm lens.

I can only speculate that the winds in the fall blew fine mist, off Wabigoon Lake, onto the shoreline at freeze up. Grass, small shrubs and the rocks are covered in a thick layer of ice. I can only imagine what it looked like before the snow flew. Dryden, ON. Here is a re-worked image of my little girl and my husband which was on RB a while ago.. I keep coming back to it so finally decided to play with it and here it is… I originally had this image in colour but got some great advice from a fellow bubbler to try it in b&w so I did…... This image was taken when my little girl fell over on the rocks and hurt her knees and her daddy gave her a piggy back to the car before the storm came.

Another wonderful and warm winter day it was. We new, there wouldn’t be any clouds this morning but we had some ideas where to go to and make the best out of it….and we shot until 11.10am. Oh well, we had some breakfast in between. / I actually got inspired by a shot posted by Jen some time ago and instantly recognized her “secret” location as I’ve been there before. / What a fantastic day….I hope you all have/had a good weekend too! Now before you stab me I have to tell you that these are 2 exposures 3 seconds apart, and yes…the boat is real. The Waterfalls are from the second shot. DRI? I don’t know…but if you are interested in doing some digital blending try this tutorial… / http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/digital-blending.shtml
