This image was taken before dawn down at North Narrabeen Rock Pool. This is one of the largest rock pools in Australia. This image was a 3 minute exposure which captures a lovely blurring of the clouds. The interesting colours of the water are due to overhead lighting on the pool. This is a very simple but peaceful image. For those that want to find out how I produced this, I described my processing in detail in one of my blog posts You can read it here
This morning was a gorgeous morning to be up and about…. 5AM and I was wondering the rocks of North Narrabeen in just a T-shirt. Not a cloud in the sky, not a puff of wind, hardly a swell in sight. Not the best conditions for seascape photography, but a lovely morning to be up and about enjoying the Spring weather. Did manage to take this photo of North Narrabeen Rock Pool. Love the old textured planks around the pool.

Hiking down Havasu Creek.
Garden Of the Gods Park, outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is without a doubt one of my all time favorite places to shoot at….the light there just dances, especially during the golden hours just after sunrise…..Pike’s Peak is in the background, with the wind blowing the snow into the sky. / Thoughts welcomed! Number three in the series. I am fascinated by the rocks along this stretch of beach. It’s amazing how many times you can shoot the same objects using different compositions. Canon EOS 5D / Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM / Cokin Z-Pro Z121S ND8 Grad filter 1 sec, f/14, ISO50, 17 mm

A rock’s eye view of the loch of lowes – I think this has a certain messy charm compared with the more pristine perfection of ‘loch of the lowes’ or ‘LoL’ Let me know what you think – comments and tips most welcome Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Etterick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) with a pocket fuji finepix A500 (there is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) loch of the lowes’ : ‘LoL’ : / ‘i am a rock’ : /

Beautiful dawn light at Wembury on the South Devon coast. The multi-coloured lichen covered slices of bedrock jutting out of the sea at an acute angle in the forground give clues to the geological composition of this Special Area of Conservation. Captured this am getting ready to leave for work. I loved how the end rocks (point) of Bell’s Island, NC looked like an arrow pointing at the intercoastal waterway. I debated removing the old duck blind in the distance…but decided it should stay.

The Lake of Menteith (in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park) on a misty, moisty, frosty morning in winter. The Lake is one of the only two bodies of open water in Scotland to be called a Lake rather than a Loch. This, I’m told, derives from the word “Laigh” .. meaning “Low”. Very occasionally, the Lake freezes over completely and, on such occasions, is used as the location for “The Bonspiel”: the famous curling match between the North of Scotland and the South of Scotland. The last Bonspiel was held in 1979 when the ice was 10” thick and a thousand competitors took part. No HDR; no tone-mapping; colour overlay; Canon EOS 450D + 17-85mm zoom;
