I’ve climbed the pyramid in Girraween many times. This was the first time I photographed the balancing rock. The funny thing was, I just did a quick search of the web to find the official name of the rock, and I found a photo taken from nearly exactly the same angle, with some slight differences in the lighting and weather. What can I say. Great minds think alike. (Mines better though ;))
I had to lay down on the beach and risked getting the camera wet for this one.
...In this perfect tidal pool of purple, I found this shadow hand stretched as if reaching to the glimmer of a sun star above… / Even standing still as stone ~ there is so much movement contrasted in its lines & the color is “as is”...

Taken just near Grossard Point at Ventnor, Phillip Island, Australia. My extended family use to have a house just minutes from here and we used to always walk along this part of the rocks. I always loved the red rocks in this area and wasn’t at all disappointed when I came back to get a couple of photos of them. One of the photos in my Phillip Island series, please click here to see the rest of my images in the series
This is part of the Spa area in the South Bay area of Scarborough in North Yorkshire. Showing both the repairs and the continued building from the layering of mud and sand to form the cliffs, to the building of the newer buildings above. Best to view large
Standing Stones at Castlerigg
This was a nice place under natural roof. The real rest area that was used by mountain goats. It also was some sort of art gallery with charming icicles, abstract rock art, and beautiful vistas that regailed the spirit with overpowering beauty. The day was absolutely clear and blue sky was nothing but absorptive power. It required effort to resist that draught. The body resisted, but the spirit has fluttered away…
BETTER VIEWED LARGER Waliking the streets of The Rocks precinct is like stepping back in time, on my recent photo walk this old window and shadows caught my attention on a old building. Rocks is one of the most-visited parts of Sydney. It is not hard to see why. Nestled at the foot of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and on the western shores of Sydney Cove, The Rocks is the foundation place of Sydney and Australia, and of enormous historical signifiance. It is often described as “Sydney’s outdoors museum”. The Rocks is the oldest area of Sydney and has recently undergone an amazing metamorphosis, the old district being transformed into a vibrant pocket of cafes and restaurants and interesting tourist shops and stalls. This has been achieved without destroying the area’s Old World charm and historic buildings. Sydney’s town planners have put in place a sensitive conservation program that has preserved the heritage and character of The Rocks and brought about an interesting fusion of modern amenities in an old and valued setting. Most activities centre around walking, looking and eating. The Rocks is Sydney’s oldest preserved colonial district so the main emphasis is on the historical importance of the area. The Sydney Visitor Centre, Corner, Argyle and Playfair Streets, The Rocks (Open daily 9.30am to 5.30pm [Closed Good Friday and Christmas Day]), is a logical and excellent starting point. This centre has a wealth of information on points of interest around The Rocks and provides free information and literature, as well as having souvenirs and momentos that can be purchased. Yosemite Falls and a boardwalk leading to it. Taken in early June. I would like to come back to this same exact spot someday and shoot this when a storm is approaching with some dramatic clouds above the mountain. Every day was a clear, bluebird sky when I was there and the weather did not offer me any drama.
