  • This is the bottom waterfall at The Birks – shame about the pipes but it helped with the title!!!! The water echoes off the pipes and makes beautiful music.

  • Peebles, Scotland. This is Peter Gordon during the recording of the Polar Conspiracy cd.

  • The Old Man of Storr, Skye http://www.orcadiaimages.co.uk

  • A group of seals relaxing in the sun. Photographed in Arran. http://www.orcadiaimages.co.uk

  • Sometimes you can get so busy photographing the BIG scene you can end up missing the beauty in the detail. Here I was photographing a large and magnificent waterfall in the beautiful village of Kinloch Rannoch (in the Highlands of Scotland) and almost fell over this little charmer as I scrambled back to the path. / Thanks for looking / Richard Tech detls. / Nikon D200 / Sigma 17-35mm @24mm / f11 1/1.6s / ISO200

  • This picture was taken at the sumit of Buachaille Etive Mòr looking down at the rock climber with Rannoch Moor in the background. IMAGE BEST VIEWED AS LARGE FOR SENSE OF SCALE AND PERSPECTIVE Other photos in this series:

  • Girl swimming at Port Ban on the Island of Iona in Scotland. I took this photo with a Motorolla mobile phone cam in 2006. The resolution was so poor that it languished on my computer for a while with some of the others I took that week. Recently I started playing around with these photos using PhotoImpact and after many hours of tweaking produced some rather nice watercolour effects. PhotoImpact has a Watercolour button that provides this effect, however it does not look good on all photos, so I had to alter the colours and blend the photo heavily before applying the effect. I think the result is quite wonderful and for anyone who has been to this part of the world, actually recognizable as Iona. As an indication of the amount of work gone into this photo compare it with the other one posted with it…both taken within 20 minutes of each other from different angles!!

  • Much the same as the last low-angle shot of the pebbles on the shore of Loch Linnhe with the mountains of Ardgour over the water. The little white building in the centre is the lighthouse at the Corran ferry. / Thanks for dropping by. / Richard Tech Detls / Nikon D300 / Nikon 16-85 VR @ 16mm / 1/2s f22 / ISO: 1eV under 200

  • Water flowing smoothly over yellow/brown rocks and over a a tiny (18” tall) waterfall. I spent about 40 minutes staring at this particular scene, getting this and other photographs of the area. Taken towards the bottom of the Birks of Aberfeldy . Nikon D200, ISO125, 1/4s at f/11.

  • Looks like a rainforest but it’s actually Fife, yes in Scotland, in October (but it was raining!) Nikon D200 and Nikon 18-200VR lens

  • Fossil Beach, along Rosemarkie in the Moray Firth, Scotland.

  • Driving along on the west coast of Arran and spotted this wall with a wonderful leaden sky behind: screech of brakes, passengers in shock, Richard jumps out with camera into middle of the road and grabs a photo before a) the scene fades b) he gets run over. / Thanks for looking / Richard Tech detls / Nikon D200 / Sigma 17-35mm @17mm / 1/60s f13 / ISO100

  • One of a set of three paintings / Acrylic on canvas 8” x 8” Original for sale @ £100, or as part of set of 3 for £250 These paintings are all from North Berick, a coastal scottish town where I spend a lot of time walking the beaches. It was a stormy grey afternoon on this weekend, and this tryptich is about trying to capture the violence of the clouds overhead. • View from near the top of the Weem Rock, near the Village of Aberfeldy in the Breadalbane region of Highland Perthshire (Breadalbane means “Highland Scotland” in Gaelic). Shot taken on Sunday 21st December 08 in the middle of our winter. The sun is very low in the sky as it always is at this time of year, though it was only 2:10 in the afternoon. This is late afternoon. By 3:45, it will be getting dark. Three bracketed JPGs converted to HDR in Photomatix. BEST VIEWED LARGER Related shots can be found at: Highland Scotland.

  • Brown’s Place, built about 1820, in Edinburgh, Scotland, is a charming Georgian Square tucked away off the Grassmarket, halfway up the Vennel steps. The Vennel steps link Lauriston Place and the Grassmarket. The word “Vennel” derives from the French word “Venelle” (little street). Three bracketed JPGs converted to HDR in Photomatix. Camera: Canon EOS 450D Shot taken on 28th February 2009. BEST VIEWED LARGER Related shots can be found at: Edinburgh or you can look at all my HDR shots.

  • Seamill beach in north Ayrshire on the west coast offers spectacular panoramas across the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran. To view audio-visual clips from all over Scotland and to send free video postcards please feel free to visit My Website

  • On the return journey from the top of the Crags at Dunkeld in perthshire, we made our way down through a narrow path past huge crops of ancient rocks. This cave had the waterfall entrance as well as one to the right of the broad waterfall drop in this picture. Moss was everywhere and as it is continually damp there there is a rich green ness to all the vegetation. Best Viewed large

  • Edinburgh Castle from the bottom of Granny’s Green Steps at the West end of the Grassmarket. This view lets you see part of the formidable rock upon which it stands. Edinburgh Castle dominates the city of Edinburgh like no other castle in Scotland, and Edinburgh Castle is unequalled in the whole of the British Isles. Over one thousand years of history sit on top of the famous Edinburgh rock.
