have always wanted to capture a big plane landing but could never be there at the right time or having the wind blowing in the right direction. The low clouds helps bring the plane closer than usual….i could almost touch it….hahhah. To see a hugh metal flying over you at approx. 200kph is…...priceless. The jetfuel, the noise…...Perfect. I am NOT a plane enthusiast , but it is fascinating to watch. Sydney “Kingsford Smith” Airport Boeing 747 landing train plane truck car chair Transportation

Taken while driving over Sea Cliff Bridge between Stanwell Park and Wollongong, about an hour and a half south of Sydney. Definitely worth a look – an architect’s dream!

The reason why I like this shot is because it’s a photo of a Sydney icon that many people have, but a view of which that hasn’t really been captured. I also like it because I really approached the taking of this shot correctly. From knowing the right lane to be in, to having all the settings in the camera properly preset, to having the right camera and lens ready. And then I got lucky – the cloud cover was just right to avoid blow-outs and just for ONCE there was enough of a break in traffic that cars didn’t get in the way. I know it’s not quite perfect but it’s pretty much exactly what I set out to photograph. this photo won first place in a Pentaxforums.com members competition on the theme Symmetry in February 2008. Woohoo!!

The closest I can come to identifying these tiny Australian native beauties is Kunzea Ambigua – a distant relative to the bottle brush. Photographed in the Ku-ringai National Park – Kalkari Reserve on Bobbin Head Road (Sydney Australia).

This beautiful old building is located on Parramatta Road very close to Sydney Uni and Broadway. I love the graceful lines of the structure and am grateful that when it was done up and converted into luxury apartments that the exterior of the building was left untouched. The harsh lines of the windows cutting into the old signwriting make this a real visual treat and an icon on the way into to town. Taken with infrared film using a very low rent battered old analouge camera while standing on a dustbin in the servo over the other side of Parramatta road. Hope you like my building.

A couple of shots of the Harbour Bridge. I got to work a bit early, so I took the oportunity to take a few shots of the Sunrise over Sydney. Unfortunately the Sun was nowhere to be seen. I still think they came out alright. Please also visit my website alexkess.com and my photoblog . Cheers and Thanks, Alex

Intended as a companion shot to the “Sydney Harbour Bridge (Int)” shot, I really wanted a second photo of the Sydney Harbour Bridge that wasn’t a standard-style one. The Harbour Bridge Pylons are the focus here, and the thing about them is that they’re actually purely decorative – they serve no engineering or structural purpose at all. (or so the tourist literature tells me!)
