I adore the Hong Kong cityscape – there are these awesome buildings that are literally stacked against eachother, each building with its own intricate building block formation, stacked upon itself, interconnecting and forming the huge picture that is the Hong Kong cityscape. The use of repetition is expansive and seems to go on forever – gotta love that! There is also this futuristic component that exists in the architecture as well as industry poking through. Mmmmm industry….

Again, continually obsessed with the Italian signage and autostrades – and then all of a sudden this landscape just cried out to me. It was so perfect, just the way I like it – sparse, remote, golden and with a hint of industry driving past. I waited, risking a small amount of life and death, waiting for the right vehicle to drive past – could not have asked for anything better as this truck with perfect streamlined graphics appeared matching perfectly with the blue sign and all. I’m done!

Often the storm chasing day ends not with the last glow of the setting sun, but with a photogenic show of pyrotechnics dancing from cloud to cloud and into the ground and lasting well into the night. This strike was captured just a few miles from my home after a long day of driving and looking for marvelous supercells and their awe-inspiring structures. Typically, any isolated cells that form during the day in western Oklahoma will race through the portions of Oklahoma that I call home, I just have to drive back ahead of the racing squall line and on such days will end the hunt with a tripod and a camera on this gravel road. It isn’t a part of my public offered storm chasing tours, but instead just my time to relax, snap shutters and enjoy my favorite hobby – lightning photography. I’ve always hoped for a dead centered strike at the end of this long gravel driveway. So many times I have closed my eyes and envisioned this very shot. Then, one night in 2006 after a long day’s work of hunting down tornadoes I ended my chase day in this fashion, opened the shutter and waited – “bang” – I had it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Be sure to check out my company, StormTours.com. This image was created at the Apollo Bay Docks early in 2008, went here for a holiday just as I was getting into Photography. I went down to the docks just as a storm was rolling in and it made for some interesting weather conditions! This pic was created from one raw file. I changed the exposures in Lightroom and then merged 3 images using Photomatix, increased the blue and green saturation levels in Lightroom and added a bit of contrast. This is the result! Best on Full Size A summer cornfield along Route 869 between Osterburg and Pavia, Pennsylvania. This image is actually fairly deceptive. I spent a lot of time working on a b&w sky and doing sc on the world below in order to create a somewhat threatening summer thunderstorm image. It fit as the world you see here, all sunny and golden, is actually thanks to the texture I eventually chose. In all reality, just as I took my last shot and headed back to the car big giant ploppy drops of rain began to fall … and those pretty clouds you see there Opened Up!!! LOL Image taken August 8, 2008 with the Nikon D40x and the 18-135mm Nikon lens. I was inspired by a beautiful image from Svetlana Sewel called Road To … to resurrect this one from the pile and play a bit. It was treated with HDR in Photomatix from 5 images, all from a single handheld, at evals of +/-2. The texture added is courtesy of Princess of Shadows at Deviant Art. I also cropped a bit of the sky.

The Russel Burn tumbles down from the mountains of Applecross, seen as you take the spectacular drive over the Bealach na Ba ( the Pass of the Cattle ) single track road. It is an old drover’s route, and rises to 2,053 feet, from where, on a clear day, you can see outstanding views of the Western Isles in all their glory. Mostly though, it will be so cold and windy that you will will not want to stay too long !! It is a very wild and remote area, so incredibly beautiful. Taken on a Canon EOS 40D, mounted on tripod, / canon 17-85mm IS lens at 17mm. Polariser fitted, ( to slow the shutter for more blur) / f23, three shot hdr (-2EV , +2EV and 0EV …..from a minus 1 stop underexposure reading 0f f23, 1/15 sec. on Aperture priority ) iso 100, Auto wb, RAW files converted in Photomatix and Adobe CS3. / Finished with a little Orton.
